Dear all

I am having problems with SRS 6.1.3.5 on a linux system with Red Hat
7.2 (kernel 2.4.7). The installation was fairly painless but the
configuring procedure ignores what changes I make to the srsdb.i file.
For example, srscheck reports the making of the SRSBOOKS indices but not
the databases I have installed, for example locuslink. I believe I have
removed the comments of the appropriate lines, set the directories
correctly and the .i and .is files exist.
srsbuild gives me the following error:
srsbuild -w locuslink
error: unknown object, library "locuslink" does not exist

It really seems that srsdb.i is not being read.
Any clues?

Andy Emerson

Dear Sirs

Many thanks for your advice on SRS. It now works perfectly. There were
two problems:
1. the $SRSSITE/srsdb.i is used and not the one in $SRSDB and
2. srssection needs to be done before srscheck

Neither these points were mentioned in section 6 of the documentation
(server maintenance), although the example in section 7 provides some
strong hints.
Another minor problem was that env is in /usr/bin/ and not /bin on my
system but that was quite easy to remedy.

thanks again
Andy Emerson

Hi All:

I'm a reporter at the Chronicle of Higher Education, and I'm writing an
article about student copyrights.

I understand that more students are concerned about this in light of the
fact that universities and professors are making more student work
available online without the student's knowledge or consent.

I'm looking for anecdotes from students who were surprised/angered to
discover that the university or professor posted their creative work
online or submitted it to an electronic database without their consent.

Please contact me if you think this relates to your own personal
experience.

Thanks,

Andrea Foster
