Immediate opening for research position

Graduate student or research technician position available

Fully funded research position is available at the Crohn's and
colitis Center of New Jersey for graduate students intending to
pursue M.D.,Ph.D or Ph.D. or any one interested research career.
The successful candidate will have opportunity to participate in any
of the on-going projects that are aimed at understanding the
molecular pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and
genetic changes responsible for predisposition to colon cancer in
those patients with longstanding disease. Some of these projects are
intended to identify and clone novel bio markers for early detection
of colon cancer in high risk patients. These projects offer excellent
opportunity to the candidates who are interested in combining basic
and clinical research approaches to understand the molecular basis of
disease.

Crohn's and Colitis center of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson
Medical school has excellent facilities to pursue fundamental
research in the areas of molecular Biology, Immunology and
Biochemistry. We are seeking energetic and motivated graduate
students to participate in these studies. Interested candidates may
contact either of us for further details.

A postdoctoral position in neurobiology is available to worldwide
applicants.

We have been using both forward and reverse genetics to study
neurophysiological problems in the fly. In the forward direction, we are
screening and analyzing mutant genes regulating the membrane excitation in
the fly photoreceptor neurons. In the reverse direction, we are going to
delete the fly homologs of several human neurodegeneration disease genes,
and create fly models for those diseases.

Applicants should have strong experience in genetics, molecular biology or
cell biology. Please contact Hong-Sheng.Li@umassmed.edu for application or
for more information.

Membrane Biology in Cambridge
Postdoctoral Research Positions

Three postdoctoral positions are available for up to three years each, in
the following projects:
1. Characterisation of ionotropic purinoreceptors in Arabidopsis (Julia
Davies & Beverley Glover) (ref. JD2002). Experience in molecular biology
is required; technical support is provided for this project.
2. The plant 'nutriome' accessed by an ICP-MS screen for unusual element
accumulation in activation tagged Arabidopsis (Mark Tester & Roger Leigh)
(ref RL2002). The assistance of a full-time technician is provided for
this project and requires significant data analysis/bioinformatics skills.
3. Characterisation of novel ion channels in Arabidopsis (Mark Tester)
(ref. MT2002-EU). This is EU-funded, so only EU nationals eligible. It
involves collaboration with and travel to several other groups elsewhere
in Europe, and requires an experienced molecular biologist.

Details of the positions and groups can be found at
http://www.plantsci.cam.ac.uk

Applicants must have a PhD, salaries will be on the research associate
scale. Applications, including a CV and names of three referees should be
sent to reception@plantsci.cam.ac.uk, quoting relevant reference number.
Closing date: 19 August.

The University is committed to equality of opportunity

Our client manufactures and distributes medical immunodiagnostic test
kits and related instrumentation which utilize technology derived from
immunology and molecular biology.

They are currently seeking talented scientists with highly developed
investigative/troubleshooting skills for the position of Supervisor
within the Product Support Department. There are two positions open
for this challenging position.

One of the two successful candidates will work within the Materials
Management Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for
the day to day operations of this busy and expanding group, which is
responsible for all aspects of raw materials management.

Specifically, the appointee will be responsible for the qualification,
characterisation and approval of new lots of critical raw materials,
from proteins to antibodies, for the Immunoassay products.

The second position is within the Assay Support Group. This group is
responsible for the development, organisation and review of
troubleshooting and improvement investigations on their products.
This group is responsible for technology transfer between
manufacturing sites and for product validations. The successful
candidate would share responsibility for timely resolution of the
ongoing investigations, while supervising the activities of a busy
laboratory.

Both posts require a person with full understanding of immunoassay
principles and several years laboratory experience gained within the
diagnostics industry or National Health Service. The successful
candidates will also possess good project management, administrative
and computing skills together with a positive disposition and a
degree, or equivalent, in a biological or life science.
