Postdoctoral position as posted on PostdocJobs.com:

We seek an individual interested in
developing a mouse gene knockout of the
novel lacrimal-specific human mitogen,
‘lacritin' (Sanghi et al, J. Mol. Biol. 310:127–
139, 2001; cover article). The recently cDNA
cloned factor is both an autocrine enhancer of
lacrimal secretion, and a downstream
mitogen via an EGF-like signaling pathway(s)
involving calcium and tyrosine
phosphorylation but lacking involvement of
Erk1/Erk2. Both lacritin expression and cell
types responsive to lacritin are very restricted.
The complete gene is relatively small.

A background in pneoflox8 target vector
construction and/or homologous
recombination technology is required.

The Laurie lab seeks to give students and
postdocs the opportunity to develop into
independent scientists by providing the
freedom to explore state-of-the-art science in
a highly collaborative institutional environment
that is well-funded.

The University of Virginia is ranked as the #2
US public university (behind UC Berkeley).
This position is located in the Department of
Cell Biology, ranked #4 nationally by the NIH.

Location: Cambridge

Duration: Permanent

Our client is a structure-based drug discovery company. Their
integrated drug discovery platform includes
cutting-edge technologies covering all aspects of
structure-based research, including protein production,
crystallization, structure determination, bioinformatics
and computational and medicinal chemistry.

They require Medicinal Chemists at Research Associate and Research
Scientist level.

Their Medicinal Chemistry Department currently consists of 16
chemists. The department is briefed with the efficient optimization of
fragment hits from crystallographic screening to high quality leads
and then on to clinical candidates, using the latest synthesis,
analytical and purification methodology.

They are now looking to recruit graduate and PhD-level chemists, with
solid training in modern synthetic chemistry and having at least one
year’s industrial medicinal chemistry experience, to exploit
structure-based lead compounds as Research Associates or Research
Scientists.

Experience in high throughput chemistry and associated analytical,
purification and data management techniques is highly desirable. An
honors degree in a relevant subject with at least a 2:1
classification, or equivalent qualification, is required.

Our client manufactures and distributes medical immunodiagnostic test
kits and related instrumentation which utilize technology derived from
immunology and molecular biology.

They are currently seeking talented scientists with highly developed
investigative/troubleshooting skills for the position of Supervisor
within the Product Support Department. There are two positions open
for this challenging position.

One of the two successful candidates will work within the Materials
Management Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for
the day to day operations of this busy and expanding group, which is
responsible for all aspects of raw materials management.

Specifically, the appointee will be responsible for the qualification,
characterisation and approval of new lots of critical raw materials,
from proteins to antibodies, for the Immunoassay products.

The second position is within the Assay Support Group. This group is
responsible for the development, organisation and review of
troubleshooting and improvement investigations on their products.
This group is responsible for technology transfer between
manufacturing sites and for product validations. The successful
candidate would share responsibility for timely resolution of the
ongoing investigations, while supervising the activities of a busy
laboratory.

Both posts require a person with full understanding of immunoassay
principles and several years laboratory experience gained within the
diagnostics industry or National Health Service. The successful
candidates will also possess good project management, administrative
and computing skills together with a positive disposition and a
degree, or equivalent, in a biological or life science.

--------------------------------

A recent PhD with a strong background and record of accomplishment in
molecular/developmental biology and small animal surgery is sought to
participate in NIH-sponsored research programs aimed at: i)
understanding mechanisms controlling tissue-specific gene expression
in bone by growth factors, BMPs and other ECM signals and ii)
developing novel strategies for bone regeneration involving
virally-based expression of regenerative molecules. The individual
selected will have the opportunity to use a number of approaches to
study bone function including microarray and transgenic analysis.

Cadtutor.com is looking for experienced Engineers, Architects and CAD Professionals to produce training materials for the site.

Cadtutor authors will earn viewing royalties of up to 25% on all active lessons they produce.

In order to help authors develop substantial incomes, a limited number of authors will be approved per Software Title.

The earlier authors get started, the better their selection of available lessons to create.

If this sounds interesting and you would like more information about authoring, check out Cadtutor Income Opportunities by visiting the site www.cadtutor.com and clicking on "Income Options" in the top green bar.

After reviewing the online authoring information, you can Sign Up to become an author. We will contact you soon thereafter with information on how to complete the application process.

The most popular areas visited on the site include: General CAD, Mechanical, Civil and Architectural. If you have experience in these areas, then your knowledge is in high demand.

Thank you for your interest.

following on recent work showing that oceanic picoplankton diversity is very
high with many phyla containing uncultured representatives (Moon-van der
Staay S.Y., De Wachter R., Vaulot D. 2001. Oceanic 18S rDNA sequences from
picoplankton reveal new eukaryotic lineages. Nature 409: 607-610). Emphasis
will be on the caracterisation, isolation and ecological role of novel
heterotrophic lineages, in particular alveolates, using rDNA probes detected
by FISH-TSA (see Not et al. 2002 AME).
