Dear netters:

I'm looking for a software to predict the potential metal binding
sites (especially, Mg++) for a nuclease. (Although I doubt that when DNA
substrate binds protein, location of Mg++ will be somewhat different).
Any suggestion is welcome and appreciated.

Best Regards.

I feel your pain.

And those headers are hilarious. They are obviously meant to get attention on
some generic newsgroup.

The moderator of this group should be deleting spam. But the problem exists
throughout bionet. Can't someone at bionet just go through the groups every few
days to get rid of these messages?

Classical Chemistry of Monolayers Applied to Duplex DNA

In 1953, James & Mazia (53) reported that 1 mg of dry calf thymus DNA could
be spread in a monolayer to cover 0.28 sq. m. From this measurement, it is
immediately possible to calculate the diameter of the DNA as it lies across
the film surface.

Calf thymus DNA, with 40% C+G base pairs, has an average mass of 330 daltons
per base unit, and a base repeat distance of 0.334 nm, giving a helical
diameter, measured across the surface film, of 1.2 nm. (The full
calculation is available in (54)).

James & Mazia measured the film height as 2.16 nm using an ellipsometer. So
there are two independent determinations of the height and width of the
duplex DNA as 1.2 nm x 2.1 nm, that is, DNA would have an elliptical cross
section.

The DNA molecular width in the film of 1.2 nm is close to that of 1.3 nm
found by Lee et al. (Puzzle 1, ref 1) using STM on duplexes not under
lateral compression, and to the value found by applying Stokes' equation
(Puzzle 2, ref. 4) to Franklin's B-DNA photograph.

Pls. check out:

This leads you to a web-based buffer-calculation program, which allows
you to enter species, pH, temp. (both prep. and use) and ionic stregth
and then gives you a recipe.

Hello;

I'm currently studying RecA, and I'm interested in the
homology recognition part of the strand exchange process.
Particularly puzzling to us right now is how homology is
recognized between two DNA molecules when one of them
(the one bound to RecA) is extended by 50%. There are
also some topological problem I am trying to work out
that seem very stubborn.

If anybody reading this has an interest in or knowledge
about the homology recognition phase of RecA facilitated
strand exchange and wouldn't mind talking to a confused
graduate student for a little while, please drop me a line.

Cheers,

Kevin

Would YOU be so kind as to enlighten me with respect to understanding
the concept called, Gibb's Free Energy Equation which I have been told
reads: DG = DH - TDS . Specifically, what do each of these terms
represent and also what concepts are embodied in this statement, please? I
am a retired zoologist who has not encountered this equation/concept
heretofore which explains why I have probably committed what is generally
considered a faux pas by engaging in what I recently found out to be
something called "trolling". If I have offended anybody, this was
definitely NOT the intent. I have submitted this query to any and all of
you good folks, whose newsgroup title indicates to my untrained eye, that
you might have a handle on this concept since I have no appreciation for
which newsgroup is best suited to this task. I trust that my sincerity and
an honest search for enlightenment overshadows any seeming error of manners.
Thank you for your indulgence. Please feel free to take me by the hand and
lead me through this concept in as much nit-picking detail as you think
warranted. I shall not be offended; on the contrary, I shall be very
grateful for your caring attention to detail.
    Regards,
    Neal W. Welsh

Well. Quite a basic thing for me, indeed, and not easy to explain in
simple words.
Furthermore, I've learned my physical chemistry lessons in german, so
some technical terms might not be right - but the principle is valid
in every language ;-)

The talk is about the energy needed or "produced" by physical,
chemical and, in principle, every process in nature. Why is it worth
talking about energy, also if one isn't interested in heat changes?

It's because every system tends to adopt a state where its energy is
lowest. On the other hand, and more basically, it tends to adopt a
state of maximum _entropy_ S. You can imagine entropy to be something
quite like disorder.
Imagine a child's ball falling on the ground and hopping up and down.
Every time it looses kinetic energy, and flies up less high than the
time before. But energy cannot be destroyed, it is just converted: to
brownian motion, to the internal heat of the ball and the ground.
Thus, the law of conservation of energy applies.

Now one could say: With only this law of conservation of energy, a
warm ball on warm ground could just by chance start hopping up and
down and fly away, thereby cooling the ground and itself. Of course it
won't. It will not, because the system prefers the energy to be in the
disordered brownian motion of its molecules, not in the ordered motion
of (all the molecules together of ) the ball relative to the ground.

Thus, entropy ("disorder") tells us in which direction this, and any,
process will occur: Entropy will alway increase.

No if one considers a completely closed chemical (or physical) system,
the only thing that allows us to say in which direction (i.e., from
hopping to resting ball or opposite) a process will occur is to look
at the entropy of the system: It will always increase (or stay
constant, then nothing happens).
But if the system is not completely closed, its own entropy can indeed
decrease, but only if the entropy of its surroundings increases to a
larger extent. Considering the ensemble of the system and its
surroundings together, one gets again increasing entropy. But this is
often not practicable. One wants to talk about what's happening in a
test tube, not about the whole lab.

The only possibility a system has to decrease its own entropy by
increasing that of the surroundings is: Transfer energy (thermal,
kinetic, electric, chemical etc.) to the surroundings thereby heating
them. This energy is called enthalpy H.

Thus, if one wants to look at the system alone, one has to consider
the system's entropy _and_ the energy it transfers to the
surroundings. The first thing one could think of was to write:

DeltaS(everything) = DeltaS(system)+DeltaS(energy transfer)

(The Delta is just because no one can measure absolute values of S, H,
G, and only the changes upon a process have to be considered)
But additionally, energies and heat changes can be measured, whereas
entropy changes can only be asigned through indirect processes of
measurement and calculation. Therefore it's simpler to express the
same in terms of energies. The mathematics and definitions are perhaps
not too important now, the outcome is:

DeltaG = DeltaH - T DeltaS

a) G is Gibbs' Free Energy, H is enthalpy, S is entropy. T is the
absolute temperature, i.e. the temperature in Kelvin, where 1K = 1°C,
but 0°C=273K, and 0 K is the lowest temperature possible: no brownian
motion at all.
b) The Temperature T comes from the observation that the entropy
change DeltaS upon transfering q calories of thermal energy Q to a
reservoir (surroundings) of temperature T is:
DeltaS = q/T
assuming that this reservoir is big enough not to change temperature.

c) The minus before T DeltaS is because systems "want" maximum
entropy, but minimum of energy (like the kinetic energy in the example
with that ball).

The miracle of this equation, and the most important thing, is, that
now all these values (DeltaG, H, S) can be assigned _to_the_system_,
and the surroundings no longer have to be considered.

Thus, by measuring these values under different conditions, one can
then predict the state in that a system will end: The chemical
equilibrium. For example, one can calculate how high the temperature
may be when synthesizing ammonia from H2 and N2 - from some point on,
the process turns around and ammonia is depleted. Or what voltage one
gets when building a battery out of two electrochemical elements. Or
how much (or less...) of Ag+ and Cl- ions will stay in solution when
you precipitate AgCl by mixing solutions of AgNO3 and NaCl.

This equation is very basic, and very important. But there are also
quite a bit of very important things it does not tell us:

1. It doesn't tell us about the reaction rates, that is: How fast will
that process be, or will it start at all if we don't heat it? (Perhaps
you know that diamond, despite beeing hard, chemically stable, nice
and expensive, is metastable, and when you heat it over the limit, it
becomes graphite, and one gets back all the energy used for heating
and more - graphite is the state of lower G.)

2. It doesn't tell us what strange things can happen to a system that
is far from equilibrium. And this is probably very important to you as
a biologist.
Biological systems are always far from equilibrium. They always take
up matter and energy (in the form of nutrition, or sun) and use ist to
be active, to produce things, and reproduce. But the animal or plant
itself doesn't change (much).

One says that biological system are in a steady state. This is the
most simple and most common possibility for a system out of
equilibrium (one other is to be trapped, because of too less
activation energy, like in the case of diamond).
In the steady state, there's a constant turnover of reactants (e.g.,
glucose or ATP in an organism), the concentration of these reactants
beeing constant (for Glucose, see below), and only the source material
(e.g. starch) beeing depleted and the concentrations of final products
(e.g. CO2) increasing.
But there's more: In biological systems, one can observe oscillations
and regulation (e.g. for glucose), which can in principle also be
explained by physical chemistry (but only in principle, with some
exceptions).

All these things can NOT be treated by thermodynamics and its basic
equation, the Gibbs' Free Energy Equation.

One needs kinetics, and the so-called non-equilibrium thermodynamics.

Hope this helps
Frank

P.S. The right book to look in is a basic textbook of physical
chemistry, e.g. that of P.W. Atkins (there's even two of him, one is
shorter.)

I am a freelance graphic designer hoping to switch my focus to science
illustration, and have just completed a BS in biology. I am just
beginning my
research into who uses science illustrators and for what type of
projects, so I
thought it wouldn't hurt to just broadcast these questions in a few
newsgroups. Any responses to any of my questions will be very much
appreciated.

1. Have any of the participants in this newgroup ever been involved
in the
production of a biology or biochemistry, etc., textbook? If so...
    a. How much specific instructions were the illustrators given
about the
content of the illustrations?
    b. How much did the publisher or author rely on the illustrator's
own
knowedge of the subject?
    c. Were you involved in the actual selection of the illustrators?

2. Do any of the participants in this newsgroup ever work with
illustrators
to enhance a slide presentation or an article? If so...
    a. How do you go about selecting an illustrator for projects such
as this?
    b. Is there someone else who would do the selecting for you?
    c. Would you do a search on the internet for science illustrators?

    d. Would it be helpful to receive a sample of an illustrator's
work in the
mail to keep on hand?

I am very grateful to anyone who can offer any advice or insights. And,
naturally, I am happy to send some samples of my work to any one who is
interested!

Best regards,
Cindy Gresham

(LAST REVISION: 30-JUL-95)

This BIOSCI "miniFAQ" is designed to answer the questions that come up
the *most frequently*. The main BIOSCI FAQ (Frequently Asked
Questions) is accessible on the World Wide Web at URL
http://www.bio.net/.

If you can not find an answer to your question in this or other
documentation, the BIOSCI technical support staff answers e-mail
queries sent to

		       biosci-help@net.bio.net

We can only answer questions about the use of the newsgroups and
mailing lists. We unfortunately do not have the staff to do Internet
information searches or answer scientific questions. Please post
those to the appropriate BIOSCI/bionet newsgroups.

0) BIOSCI NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!
------------------------------
BIOSCI's government funding has been expended, and we are now
operating solely from advertising revenue that we have raised from our
Web site at http://www.bio.net/. We need just a few minutes of your
time to help us serve you.

You can do two important things which will take very little time for
you individually and will immensely help us continue to help you.

First, please use our WWW system at http://www.bio.net/ to access the
archives. You can post or reply to messages via your Web browser as
described in item #1 below. Your usage helps attract sponsors. If you
contact any of our sponsors, please be sure to thank them for
supporting BIOSCI. It is critical for them to get this feedback if
they are to continue their sponsorship for the long term.

Second, if you work for a company or organization that provides
products or services of interest to the biology community, please pass
this message on to your marketing or marketing communications
department or other appropriate group. Please ask them to help
support BIOSCI by sponsoring our Web site and explain the uses and
benefits of the system to the biology community. If they are
interested, they can then contact us for further information at our
tech support address, biosci-help@net.bio.net.

1) Using the WWW to access the BIOSCI/bionet newsgroups.
--------------------------------------------------------
As of 10 December 1995, all BIOSCI/bionet full newsgroups are
accessible through the World Wide Web (WWW) at URL http://www.bio.net.
One can read and reply publicly or privately to both recent postings
and archived messages through one's Web browser if it is configured
properly to send e-mail. Each newsgroup is equipped with its own WAIS
index. The main BIOSCI home page also has access to the BIO-JOURNALS
Table of Contents database WAIS index and the BIOSCI user address
database described in another item further below.

2) What to do about "spams," i.e., junk mail, ads, etc.
-------------------------------------------------------
BIOSCI is a set of parallel USENET newsgroups (the "bionet" groups),
mailing lists, and a hypermail archive at URL http://www.bio.net/.
The same postings are distributed on all media (except for a small
number of mailing-list-only groups at net.bio.net). Unfortunately it
is becoming a despicable practice on the Internet (by a few people out
to make a fast buck) to do automated mass postings to thousands of
newsgroups and mailing lists. These attempts to grab free advertising
are refered to as "spams" in the usual, somewhat boneheaded, net
terminology. USENET is more susceptible to this practice, and many
spams originate on the USENET groups and then are passed on to the
mailing lists. However, spammers also get lists of mailing addresses
and hit these too, so neither medium is immune.

What should you do personally if you get junk mail?
---------------------------------------------------
Just delete it and move on without reading it further. Filing a
protest is becoming increasingly useless because spammers are often
disguising the addresses where the messages are sent from. Unless you
really understand Internet mail systems, your attempt at protest by
sending replies to the message will often end up being sent to the
address of an innocent person that the spammer is victimizing.

What can BIOSCI/bionet do to protect its newsgroups?
----------------------------------------------------
The only solution currently available is to moderate the newsgroup.
If this newsgroup is already moderated, then you are in good shape.
Moderation protects the USENET distribution from about 95% of the
spams that are being sent to date and protects the mailing lists
completely. Moderation means, however, that someone has to take the
time to review each message before it goes out. We have set up
software here that simply allows the moderator to forward to an
address at net.bio.net messages that (s)he wishes to have distributed.
This takes no more time than that needed to read the message and pass
it on, say about 1 min. per message.

Most newsgroups currently have a discussion leader who is responsible
for their newsgroup. The discussions leaders and their e-mail
addresses are listed in the BIOSCI Information Sheet which is
available on the Web at http://www.bio.net/. If a newsgroup is being
hit with too many junk postings, please contact the discussion leader
for that group and see if there is interest in moderating the group.
Please do not assume that by simply posting a complaint to the
newsgroup itself, anyone on the BIOSCI staff will act on your
complaint. With close to 100 newsgroups to run, the BIOSCI staff has
to rely on the discussion leaders of each newsgroup to report problems
directly to us at biosci-help@net.bio.net.

We will moderate any of our newsgroups if the discussion leader tells
us that the readership of the group wishes to do so and if a moderator
is willing to do the work. For most BIOSCI/bionet groups, this
entails only a few minutes of work each day.

Moderating a newsgroup will resolve probably 95% of the junk postings
on the USENET distribution. Unfortunately there are easy ways for
determined spammers to override the moderation mechanism on USENET,
but we can protect our e-mail subscribers from unwanted postings if
the newsgroup is moderated. You can also access our newsgroups over
the WWW at URL http://www.bio.net. While this Web interface will not
stop spammers from trying to post to the groups, this will give you
yet another way, besides using USENET news, to keep the junk out of
your personal mail files. For those of you with local USENET news
systems, the Web interface will also give you faster access to new
newsgroups and recent postings.

3) Examples of subscribing and unsubscribing to the mailing lists.
------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE NOTE: The BIOSCI management does NOT act on
subscription/unsubscription requests that are posted improperly to the
newsgroups and mailing lists. People who do this only bother everyone
on the lists to no avail. Please be sure to follow the proper
procedures below.

Gory details are in the BIOSCI Information sheets on the Web at
http://www.bio.net. Below we give an example utilizing the
METHODS-AND-REAGENTS list at both of our two BIOSCI sites:

Users in the Americas and Pacific Rim countries who use the BIOSCI
------------------------------------------------------------------
node at computer net.bio.net:
----------------------------

A) Determine the "listname" which is the <=8 character mail address
                                         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
for the group. These can be found in the BIOSCI Info. Sheet. For
the METHODS-AND-REAGENTS group the mailing address is
methods@net.bio.net. The listname is the portion of the address to
the left of the @ sign, i.e., "methods". The listname is used with
the "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" commands illustrated below.

B) Mail all commands in the body of a mail message addressed to
biosci-server@net.bio.net. Do NOT send commands to the newsgroup
posting addresses! Leave the Subject: line blank, any text on it
   will be ignored.

C) In the body of your message put one or more of the following
commands with an "end" command on the last line, e.g.,

   subscribe methods
   unsubscribe methods
   end

Do NOT put your e-mail address or other text on these lines. The
server only allows you to cancel your subscription if the address
on your mail header matches the address on our mailing list.
Please ask for help at biosci-help@net.bio.net if your address has
changed, e.g., if you know you are on the list but the server tells
you that you are not a member.

Users in Europe, Africa, and Central Asia who use the BIOSCI node at
--------------------------------------------------------------------
computer daresbury.ac.uk (also known as dl.ac.uk):
-------------------------------------------------

To subscribe and unsubscribe to/from the BIOSCI lists, you need to
specify the full USENET newsgroup name with "bionet-news." prepended.
The USENET newsgroup names are listed in the BIOSCI Information sheet
on the Web at http://www.bio.net/. For the METHODS-AND-REAGENTS list
the USENET newsgroup name is bionet.molbio.methds-reagnts, thus the
appropriate commands are

    sub bionet-news.bionet.molbio.methds-reagnts

    unsub bionet-news.bionet.molbio.methds-reagnts

These commands are included in a message addressed to mxt@dl.ac.uk,
NOT to the newsgroup mailing addresses. As usual, include the text in
the body of the message as text on the Subject: line is ignored.

To unsubscribe from all the lists at the UK node, use

    unsub bionet-news

Please note that if the address in the list is different than the one
in your mail message header, you will not be able to unsubscribe by
this method. If you have problems, please mail biosci@daresbury.ac.uk.

4) The BIOSCI user address and research interest directory.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Please take this opportunity to add your name, address, and research
interest information to the BIOSCI User Address Database if you have
not already done so.

You can fill out the address form directly through our Web page at URL
http://www.bio.net/adrform.html.

The address database is reindexed nightly for WWW access (the URL is
http://www.bio.net/). If you are not directly on the Internet but can
reach it by e-mail, please use our waismail server to access the user
directory. waismail use is described above. You can also request a
user address form by e-mail from biosci-help@net.bio.net.

Please check your database entry from time-to-time to see if your
address information is still up-to-date. Because of our limited
personnel resources, we ask that you resubmit a *complete* form to
revise your entry; we only replace complete entries and do not have
resources to edit old forms.

Over the next three years, we will see the development of an amazing
array of new capabilities on the Web. The members of The Science
Advisory Board (http://www.scienceboard.net) have been expressing their
opinions on the current state of the Web, and how it must evolve to
support their research.

When asked, "Which of the following advanced Web site features do you
believe would be MOST valuable to your area of research?" the number one
answer of our members was: "Full-text, hyperlinked references to all
articles relevant to {their} experiment/research." "A single gateway to
all relevant biological databases" was the second most desired feature.

We believe these findings are yet another clear indication that the Web
is no longer considered just a place to "visit," but must be viewed as a
valuable tool in biological research. Websites must be "useful" not
just "interesting."

To what extent do you believe the Websites maintained by life science
vendors are meeting this need? The quality of these sites varies
considerably - which sites set the standards of quality that others must
emulate?

If you would like to participate in this, or future studies, please
complete the RESEARCH PANEL registration form which can be found at
http://www.scienceboard.net. Your identity and individual responses are
always held in strict confidence, and all participants are compensated
for their time. In additional to the standard compensation awarded to
all participating members, drawings are routinely held for high value
prizes including computers, cash awards and gift certificates.

The Science Advisory Board is an online panel of more than 4,300
scientific and medical professionals from 65 countries. The Board
convenes electronically to participate in online surveys and focus
groups to voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics related to
new research products and emerging technologies. If you have any
additional questions about membership, please feel free to contact me at
j.evans@scienceboard.net.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DANIEL AND REVELATION

Most christians at this time believe the futurist view of Daniel
and Revelation.. For example, they believe there will be a 7 year
tribulation, (involving a middle east peace treaty), a political anti
-christ will arise, and there will be a rebuilding of the Jewish temple.
This doctrine is totally false. The man who brought futurism into
existence in the church was Fransisco Ribera, a Roman Catholic jesuit.
. The purpose of futurism as a doctrine was to destroy the work of the
 great protestant reformation.
The protestant view of Daniel and Revelation was so clear that
many of the great reformers predicted many world events that happened
to the day. For example, Josiah Litch predicted that on August 11,
1840, the Ottoman Empire would come to an end , and it did. (The bible
speaks of this as the 6th trumpet with "hour, day month and year "=
 360 + 30 + 1 + 1/24 of a day + 391 years and 15 days from the first
Ottoman invasions on the Roman empire until the surrender of the
Ottoman Turks to the great Christian powers)
A Hugenot pastor ;after the Protestant reformation ,predicted
;that in 1798 the Papacy would come to an end for a short time.
("The beast receives a deadly wound: "Rev 13:3.)(Rev 13 - the beast
that ruled for 1260 days, from 538 - 1798), and it did. (Napoleans
general, Berthier ,took the Pope captive to France in 1798,exactly
1260 years after the begining of Papal rule in Europe)
Many protestant reformers knew that the invasions by the Saracen
turks were the fulfillment of The fifth trumpet - "torment men for
 five months," five months = 30 x 5 = 150 years, 1299 - 1449.
Another clear prophecy was that a revolution would happen in France at
the close of the 18th century, (around the end of the 1260 days, 538
- 1798, ). and that after this revolution ;the gospel would go out to
all the world .Chapter 11 of Revelation. (The French revolution)
Another prophecy ,by the Wesley brothers ,was that America would
grow to be the greatest nation on earth, ( Starting at the fall of
the first beast, The Papacy, ) The symbol of America in Revelation
13 was of a lamblike beast, (christian, ) This second beast was
to spring up and grow to speak like a dragon. (chapter 13 of
Revelation).Charles Wesley said "He is not here yet,but he is
not far away" (Speaking about the second lamb-like beast of
Revelation ,Knowing that the 1260 day/years were coming to an end).
This is when the lamb-like beast was to arise ,at the deadly wound of
the first beast (the papacy) Around 1798ad.
These prophecies in Daniel and Revelation are very clear when
you understand the principles of the historicist view: , a view that
sustained faith ,as time revealed each period .The first principle
says that in prophecy, a day stands for a year, (Ezekial 4:6). (Daniel
9:25 ). Let us take the common misconception that there will be a 7
year tribulation and a peace treaty will be signed "in the midst of
the week. by a political anti-christ.(Daniel .9:27)The verses
preceeding this ;reveal that this prophecy is actually about Jesus.
"Seventy weeks (heptads)are determined upon your people to put an end
to sin to seal up prophecy and annoint the most holy". The 70 weeks
 = 70 x 7 = 490 years, with a day for a year. "You are to know and
understand that from the going forth of the command to restore and
rebuild Jerusalem, (457BC), until Messiah, (Jesus), will be 62 weeks
 plus 7 weeks". The 62 + 7 = 69 weeks or 69 x 7 = 483 years. Daniel
 9:24-27.
Decree to restore Jerusalem = (457BC)
To put an end to sin = 490 years
Until Messiah = 483 years
457bc + 483 years (Messiah) = 27AD when Jesus was baptised and was
recognised
 as the messiah.(messiah means annointed).
457bc + 490 years (Gospel goes to the Gentiles and the Jews are
rejected)
= 34AD, (the stoning of Stephen).
"In the midst of the week, (27AD - 34AD), he will put an end to
sacrifice". 31AD is the midst of the week, when Jesus was crucified
and He caused the old testament sacrifices to cease. These scriptures
are all in the same chapter and are all part of the context of the
verse.(It is easy to see that to add a political anti-christ to these
chapters does not make any sense.)
The day for a year principle stands because if it were not true,
the messiah would have come a literal 69 weeks after the decree in
 457BC, which he did not.
I will show you how the great reformers knew how world events would
happen and what is to come. The word week comes from the Hebrew:
heptad(meaning a period of seven, and read this way is much easier
to understand.).eg "70 periods of seven are determined on your
people."( 70 *7 = 490 years to put an end to sin (for the Jewish
 people ) "Will be 62 periods of 7 and 7 periods of 7 ( 69*7
=483 years until messiah).
Most of us know that the statue in Daniel chapter 2 , and the
animals in chapter 7 stood for future world empires, eg. Babylon,
Medes/Persian, Greece and Rome and then the toes and horns stood
for the ten nations of Europe.
(The prophecy said that these countries were like "iron and clay,
they would come together with the seed of men but would not cleave
together, and that they were to come together for a short time,
to give there power and authority to the beast")The iron nations
were the strong ones, England, Germany and France, the clay nations
were the weaker ones, Denmark, Holand and Belgum. We see now Europe
coming together as a new super-state, to give its power and
authority to the beast. This will be only for a " short time"
.Throughout history men such as Napolean and Hitler have tried to
bring Europe together and many of the royal families have tried
the same idea through inter-marriage ("with the seed of men")but
as the prophecy makes clear (They would not cleave together").
The little horn that came up and ruled for 42 months, 1260 days and a
time, times and dividing of times,(out of the ten horns ) was the
Papacy. This began in 538 and ended in 1798 when Bertheir, Napoleans
general ;took the pope captive. (1260 years later). The little horn
was to receive its power and seat and authority from the terrible
beast (Rome). This is exactly what happened as the Papacy was the
only power left in Europe at the fall of the last Emporers. The Papacy
was to "uproot three horns",This prophecy was fullfilled when the
first Pope destroyed the Ostrogoths, Herulli and the Goths, three
of the barbarian tribes that made up the nations of Europe.
The churches, seals and trumpets have happened across Europe.
The churches were 7 distinct ages. The seals changed from white
horse, (purity), red horse, (persecution), up until the sixth
seal; Great events were seen across Europe and America, eg.
Lisbourne earthquake, the sun going black and the great star shower
of 1833, ("and the sixth seal opened and there was a great earthquake.
.."). The trumpets were invasions first by barbarians and then Islamic
tribes throughout Europe. The churches ,seals and trumpets revealed
the condition of the church from within, from the outside and from the
  view of military conquests.
Chapter 11 of Revelation described the French revolution
- Babylon was seen as the spiritual confusion in Europe and the
street of the great city was France : The Gauls were the first of
the invading tribes to be converted to Roman Catholicism. (The reason
God used the French revolution in Revelation is fairly clear. This
revolution was the begining of the end for monarchies around the
world. From this time onwards the Republican form of government
gained ground in every part of the world.) It also left us a strong
message as to what the fruit of the rejection of Christ will be.
Men such as Pol Pot and Lennin were trained at French universities
and the countries of Syria ,Lebanon ,Lybia and Vietnam were French
 administered nations before there independance.
Will we here what the spirit says to the churches about our nations.
One of the great reformers of the reformation said that , after the
1260 day prophecy had ended a power would rise up in France that
would be against God. ("Rev 11:7 After the 1260 days of there
testimony in sack-cloth is finished , a beast rises up out of
the bottomless pit and kills them, and there bodies lie in the
street of the great city for three and one half days)"It would
last for 3 and 1 half years and then after this the bible would go
out into all the world. He knew this because the prophecy said that
Gods two witnesses (the old and new testaments )would be killed
and lie in the street of the great city for three and a half prophetic
days . After the 1260 years of Papal rule had finished (538-1798)
the worst part of the French revolution began. The bible was banned in
 France for
three and a half years. After the terrors of the revolution the
people of France called for the re-introduction of public worship.
The bible was then translated from three to over one hundred languages
;and went out to the whole world through the great missionary movements
The second beast of Revelation 13 was believed to be America.
(Some famous people who beleived the Historisist view were,Sir
Isacc Newton,Martin Luther, John Knox, Latimer ,Ridley and the
Wesley brothers)In fact most Protestants accepted the historicist
view.Futurism(which is a common beleif in the church today )was
rejected by most serious bible beleiving people as an attempt by
Rome to destroy the belief that the catholic system was anti-christ
. (See the begining of the letter to King James in the King James
 bible)
To counter these claims, the jesuit Ribera founded futurism to
destroy any belief that the Papacy was anti-christ. So what of the
future? "The deadly wound would heal and the whole world shall
worship the beast". America, the second beast, is to set up an
image or replica to the papacy. The little horn (The Papacy) was
to make alteration in time and in law. The Papacy, by changing
the 4th commandment, did this. The 4th commandment is to
keep the sabbath holy. The papacy changed the sabbath of Saturday
to Sunday. (Think to make alteration in time and law .Daniel 7:25
).Again to bring pagans into the church ,who already held Sunday as
a sacred day.(Please read my file protcath.doc that shows that most
Protestant accept that the ten commandments still stand and that
 Saturday is the bible Sabbath).
To make an image to the first beast, America must change it's
great principles of religious liberty and enforce Sunday as a day
of worship. (As Rome did in Europe). The Pentecostal Sunday Coalition
has become very powerful in government and is lobbying strongly to
have these laws enforced. Remember that the remnant will be "those
who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus". In
the final drama, those who worship the papacy as opposed
to taking the seal of God, will receive the 7 last plagues. The angels
 come
out from the temple in heaven where the 10 commandments are kept, and
pour out these plagues on a rebellious world.
It is very difficult to explain this fully in a short letter. I
just hope you remember that futurism theology is false . Some believe
that the mark on the right hand or forhead will be a computer chip,
and that the worship of the beast and his image is enforced Sunday
worship. (Revelation gives us a clue that buying and selling will
be impossible for those who receive the mark of the beast. It seems
that cash must be abolished and a new system set up.Maybe this is
why we are seeing a move toward a cashless society). It is important
to remember both of these and look out for them in the future.
You can find the historicist view of Revelation at any Adventist
church. I hope you look into this and see for yourself as we are
playing out the final drama in the world's history, and to believe
what is deliberately false could put us in danger of great
deception. (Remember even if you do not accept the historicist
view, futurism is still a false theology.)
"And Satan went off to make war against her offspring, those those
who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus".
 Rev 12:17 , Rev 14:12.
If you have trouble with the fact that you have been deceived by
the doctrines of Rome, remember the words of the young John Calvin
."I will have none of your new doctrine, think you ,that i have lived
in error all my days".Calvin eventually went on to be one of the
great defenders of the reformed faith.

THE GREAT PROPHECIES OF DANIEL AND REVELATION EXPANDED
The prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are not really difficult to
understand. Most of the symbols are from the old testament or are
explained in the same chapters. The bible must be left to interpret
itself.(I have read many books where the white horse of Revelation
is a symbol of a future political anti-christ.White is not a symbol
of evil,no matter how much we would like these doctrines to fit
our own interpretations)
eg. A rider on a white horse:We know by old testament symbols that
white is a symbol of purity. This is clear and does not need much
explanation.(Later in Revelation Jesus appears on a white horse,)
In Revelation 13 the beast described comes out of the sea.Later
in chapter 17 of Revelation sea's are described as nations and
multitudes and tongues. The other beast (lamb-like,America)comes
up out of the earth. The earth
is a symbol of a wilderness or desolate area.
A beast is always used as a symbol of a power or country.
A woman is always a symbol of a church.
The book of Revelation is meant to be understood but instead has
been treated as an obscure book that no-one can make sense of.
I hope after reading this document you never feel this way again.

THE FUTURE WORLD EMPIRES...........
Daniel chapter 2 and 7:The prophecies of the worlds future empires.
The symbols used here were later named by Daniel in the exact order
of there rise and fall. The prophecy leaves no doubt who they are.
The lion and the head of the statue:Babylon.

The bear and the breast and arms of silver :Medes and Persians
.The bear has three ribs in its mouth, these are symbols of the medes
and persian three great conquests. (Babylon,Lyidia, and Egypt.)
In chapter eight of Daniel the symbols are of the battles between the
 Medes/Persians and Greece.The ram(Medes/Persians) had two horns,one
horn was larger than the other(This is symbolic of Persia being
stronger than the Medes part of the empire)The ram butted north
,south and west(This was the directions of this empires conquests
.The he-goat that battles the ram comes from the West(Greece)The
he-goat had a prominent horn(Alexander the great).The prominent
horn is broken and replaced by four other horns.(After the death
of Alexander his Generals murdered his family and divided Greece
up into four empires.Daniel 8:20 explains all this clearly. We really
dont have to be mistaken about bible prophecy.Remember Jesus said
 in Revelation 1:1
That he was to show his servant what was to take place.( it would
be clear, not hidden). Satan would have you beleive that Revelation and
Daniel are impossible to understand. The symbols in the old and new
testaments are consistant across the whole Bible and once recognised
you will always be able to interpret them. eg A beast= A power or
 country.
Leopard and the belly and thighs of bronze: Greece. The leopard has
four wings these stand for Alexanders generals who took over the
Greek empire after his death. (Alexander the Great).

The dreadfull beast and the legs of iron and clay :Rome .
The dreadfull beast has ten horns these are the ten nations
of Europe that came out of the Barbarian invasions of imperial
Rome .The ten toes on the statue are also symbolised here.
                                        THE LITTLE HORN....
...THE PAPACY
The little horn :This power symbolized the Papacy ,which was
to rule Europe for 1260 years (538-1798).
This little horn was to receive his power and authority from the
dreadfull beast.(This means that this cannot be about some future
anti-christ.The Roman Catholic Church received its power and
authority from pagan Rome when the last emporers fell).
THE 69 AND 70 WEEK PROPHECIES.....JESUS CRUCIFIED IN THE MIDST
 OF THE WEEK
The 69& 70 week prophecies of Daniel. (Daniel 9:24-27).
This was the prophecy of the Messiah and the rejection of the Jewish
 people : 69*7=483 years
and 70*7=490 years.
457 bc was when the commandment to restore and rebuild jeruselam
by Artexerses was given.
The two dates reach untill 27 ad and 34 ad.
The midst of the week (Heptad) was 31ad when Jesus was cut off
and put and end to the old testament animal sacrifices. (This
scripture is often believed to be about a future political
antichrist who rebuilds the temple in Jerusalem. It was made up to
take all eyes off Rome, the real antichrist. (Antichrist means:In
 place of
christ)

       457bc...........408bc.......................................
.................................27ad.........31ad..........34ad
                                   (483 and 490 years
) (midst of the )

week
Another part of the prophecy in this chapter of Daniel pointed to the
rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple in 408bc.
"In the seven weeks(The first seven weeks that were part of the 62
and 7 weeks until the messiah) it will be built again(Jerusalem
and the temple) in times of affliction."(After the captivity in
Babylon by the returning exiles under Nehemiah and Ezra) This
prophecy took place when the exiles returned under much oposition.
The following prophecy was given several hundred years before the
birth of Cyrus ;the Persian leader who took Babylon captive ,leading
to the return from exile of the Jewish people. The prophecy said that
"the doors of brass would be opened."This happened as the gates of
Babylon were left open by a drunken guard , allowing the armies of
Cyrus to take Babylon without blood.
Isiah 45:1 said "Thus says the lord to Cyrus my annointed whose
right hand i hold to subdue nations before him and to loose the
loins of kings and to open the gates before him.I will shatter
the doors of brass and cut apart the bars of iron. This took place
after Chapter six of Daniel were the King of Babylon drank out of
the holy vassels from the temple in Jerusalem. The writing appeared
on the wall saying "You have been weighed in the scales and found
wanting, Your kingdom shall be given to the Medes and Persians.
                         THE 2300 DAY PROPHECY..........
.THE SANCTUARY IS TO BE CLEANSED.
The 2300 day/year prophecy. (Daniel 8:14)
This is the longest time prophecy in the bible and is part of
 the other prophecies from 457bc.
The 2300 days/years ; started from the decree to restore and rebuild
 Jerusalem(457bc) ,and reached down to 1844 ad. (I know,somtimes
this can be hard to accept. The fact is though ;that during the 19th
century, most of the church believed the 2300 day prophecy ;although
there were different interpretations of what the cleansing of the
sanctuary meant).eg The coming of Christ,The destruction of the world.
The prophecy said"Unto 2300 days and the sanctuary will be cleansed".
 (Daniel)
The sanctuary was the true one in heaven (Moses was to build a pattern
of the true tabernacle in heaven")and this was the archtype of the
begining of the worlds day of attonement. This was the begining of
the time of the end in Daniel where the sealed books would be opened.
Movements were raised up by God in America and Europe that began
to teach Daniel and Revelation. These were totally independant of
each other. (Before the year 1844 only 2 or 3 people taught on the
prophecies of Daniel and Revelation.)When this date came around
,the number of teachers and churches who taught this started to
number in the hundreds.William Miller was a farmer who God raised
up to preach the message of the 2300 day prophecy. Miller began
his preaching in 1813 and was present at the time of the great
star shower of 1833; that was a fullfillment of the sixth seal
.God had ordered events to give impact to Millers words. The trouble
was that with the rejection of this light ;many churches fell
into darkness on these issues;and were open to other doctrines ;such
 as futurism.
At this time these movements began to teach the prophecies of Daniel
and Revelation with an emphasis on Revelation 14.This was a three
 fold message:
To fear God and give him glory because the hour of his judgement
has come.(Laodecia the last church age means "A people judged,
"unto 2300 days and the sanctuary will be cleansed) and "worship
him who made heaven and earth and the waters." Rev 14:7 (This was
a pointer to Genesis and the seventh day sabbath as opposed to
 Papal Sunday worship).
To come out of Babylon (False religion. Babylon means confusion and
stands for churches that are a mixture of truth and error. Most
churches today contain elements of the doctrines of Rome)
Do not take the mark of the beast or worship his image.(An image
is a replica of the first beast: The Papacy.)
This was the begining of the Laodecia church period.
THE CHURCHES THE SEALS AND THE TRUMPETS

THE CHURCHES......(Each name matches the period of each church and
the scriptures are messages to the people in each time period.)

The churches seals and trumpets were the history of the church
from the begining to the end.
Ephesus :33ad-100ad . The church of the apostles (lost there
first love toward the end :100 ad). The Nicolations described in
the book of Revelation were a group who believed that freedom in
Christ meant that the ten commandments were no longer binding. The
name means to lord it over the people. (Nicolations) Somthing a
true pastor will never do. (The name Ephesus means a sweet thing:
A good description of the first church period).
Smyrna :100ad- 323 ad . The persecuted church : They were to have
tribulation ten days. This ten days (counting a day for a year )
began in 313 ad and ended in 323 .ad This was the worst period of
church persecution under Rome. The name Smyrna means :a wearing
away .A fitting symbol of this church age.
Pergamos :323ad-538ad- .The church of compromise. The name means
:the high place of the people ,and is a fitting symbol of this
church age. After the persecution of the Smyrna church this period
came to an end under Constantine who favoured Christianity. This
was a dangerous time for the church as the early persecutions kept
the church pure ,now Christians were tempted to fall for the ease
 and luxury of the world.
Thiatira :538ad-1650 ad .The dark ages-.Thiatira for its sins were
to be cast into great tribulation. This was the time when the Roman
Catholic Church was to wear out the saints of the most high.
(Daniel),and think to make alteration in time and law ,(the Papacy
did this by changing the sabbath of Saturday to Sunday.)200 million
martyrs lost there lives to this apostate system. In 1517 Martin
Luther began his protest against Rome. Seven years later in 1524
the Jesuits were formed to counter the work of the reformation.
Part of this work was to destroy the beleif that the Papal system
was anti-christ. This was done through false doctrines such as
futurism and the murder of bible translators who tried to bring
the bible to the common people by freeing it from the Latin tongue
.( "My two witnesses shall prophecy in sackcloth for 1260 days"
Revelation 11:3 ......538-1798 : The two witnesses were the old
 and new testaments , sack-cloth is a symbol of mourning ) .
They were also to be thrown upon a sick bed(Revelation)..This
literally happened ;as great plagues destroyed Europe.Symbols were
Jezebel who married king Ahab. This is very fitting as like Jezebel
the Catholic Church leaned upon the sword of the state to enforce
its dogma. During this period, there was no advancment in society
. There were only small pockets of resistance to Rome. The Waldenses
were one of these groups who kept the true faith alive in the
Piedmont mountains for over one thousand years. The work of this
church laid the seeds of the great Protestant Reformation.Members
of the Piedmont church sent there people out into Europe to open
the scriptures to the common people. Many were martyred for there
fidelity to God. The scriptures tell us in Revelation 12
,that " The woman fled into the wilderness were she was nourished
by God for 1260 days. (The 1260 days are the same period. eg 1260
years :538ad-1798ad )"(A pure woman is a symbol of the church of
God .A whore is a symbol of an apostate church.)
Sardis :1650ad-1750ad . The post reformation church. "They had a
name that they were alive ,but were really dead."
After the great Protestant reformation shook the world ,the church
failed to seek new light after the death of men such as Luther
,Calvin .ect.The church fell into stale formalism. They only had
 "a name for being alive."
John Robertson ,a pastor of the Puritan church,in his farewell
address to the pilgrams that left for the new world(America) said
" For my part i cannot sufficently bewail the condition of the
reformed churches, who are come to a period in religion, and will
go at present no farther than the instruments of there reformation
.The Lutherans cannot be drawn to go beyond what Luther saw ;and
the Calvanists you see ,stick fast where they were left by that
great man of God , who yet saw not all things".
Philladelphia :1750-1844 .Name means brotherly love and fits the
time well. This was the time of the Salvation Army, penal reforms
and missions to the world. Also the time of the church anti slavery
movements. In Revelation Jesus says to them"i will keep you from
the hour of tribulation that is to come on the whole world." and "
I set before you an open door that no man can shut". The open door
was for the great missionary movements that went to places such as
India and Africa. We see the fruit of this today as many churches
are sending missionaries to these countries .
(They were not in the time of the great tribulation that the
last church must face. )Which leads us to.........
Laodecia:1844ad-to the end . The name means a people judged. This
is the begining of the period in Daniel"unto 2300 days and the
sanctuary will be cleansed.".(The cleansing of the sanctuary was
the putting away of the sins of Gods people before the great day
of atonement.....Yom Kippur. This is the longest time period in
 the bible.The 2300 day/years begins in 457 bc at the command o
f Artexerses to "restore and rebuild Jerusalem "and ends in 1844
ad ,2300 years later. This was to be the type of the begining of
the day of atonment. In Europe and America movements were raised
up independant of each other preaching the message of Revelation
14.These three messages were to "Fear God and give him glory for
the hour of his judgement has come" (Laodecia:A people judged)That
Babylon (false religion) has fallen (This is exactly what happened
in 1844),and not to take the mark of the Catholic system(The beast)
. The angel in Revelation 14 was to take this message to every nation
and tongue. There was great joy in the churches ;for those that
accepted this message.Things were different for the churches that
rejected the message of the soon coming of Christ. The change in the
church was noticed from this year onward .A writer in the religous
telescope said"We have never witnessed such a general declension of
religion as at the present.Truly the church should awake, and search
into the cause of this affliction " .
In the month of Feburary, 1844 ,Professor Finney of Oberlin college
remarked "The spiritual apathy is almost all -pervading and
is fearfully deep."The religous press of the day said "The churches
have gone very far from the lord; and he has withdrawn himself from
them".The result of the rejection of light that God sends is just
as the days of Christ, when the Jewish leaders rejected him and
sought an earthly kingdom. All was not lost though.Fifty thousand
persons withdrew from the churches of the day and the soon coming
of Christ was preached to the world. In Revelation chapter 7 the
angels hold back the winds of destruction until the servants of God
are sealed. This was also the message that went along with the
 preaching of Revelation chapter 14.
This period was known as the time of the end in Daniel where "the
books would be opened."Daniels little book had been sealed until
this time. Now an understanding of Revelation and Daniel began to
 spread across the world.
Jesus says to Laodecia that "he is the faithfull and true witness"
.,Many false witnesses were raised up at this time.In 1846 the
modern u.f.o. flaps began. This is the same time that the modern
spiritualist movement grew into the modern new age movement.Darwins
theory of evolution was also released upon the world and in 1848
the communist manifesto was born.It is no coincidence that these
beleif systems came about just as the sealed books ( Daniel and
Revelation) were to be opened. Satan had
a false witness to cater for all tastes. In history we always see
the work of these two opposing kingdoms. Recently when the book,
"The Bible Code" was released, the biggest u.f.o. sighting was
seen over Phoenix, Arizona, drawing attention away from Gods message
 to the world.
Laodecia thought it was "rich and in need of nothing ,"but was in
reality wreatched ,blind and naked.Jesus counsels them to by gold
refined in the fire ,or character that comes about by tribulation
and a knowledge of God and his beauty and greatness.Beleif in such
Catholic doctrines such as eternal torment have turned millions
away from the God of all love and light.. (See my file hell .doc
,and what men such as Martin Luther beleived about eternal torment
and the state of the dead)." That monstrous fable of a dunghill of
decretals".... Martin Luther. Dont you find it strange that the
beleif in eternal torment seems so clear to many churches and those
who reject it are seen as liberal and attacking the fundementals of
the bible, yet the first Protestant, Martin Luther did not beleive
it ? . With a study of the scriptures you will find that this doctrine
has no basis in the bible. I know this thought is very difficult.
We are told we have an immortal soul... Yet the bible says that
Jesus Christ alone posseses immortality. When satan is thrown into
the lake of fire this is the second death , not the second life.
We are to fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
. Destroy means to destroy.Job tells us that " the dead they know

  in Revelation.
