POST DOCTORAL POSITION
in Canberra, Australia with Andrew Torda.

Each year, the Research School of Chemistry at the
Australian National University has a series of post-doctoral
fellowships awarded on a competitive basis. Applications for
the current round will be taken until about Oct 31 2000.
Starting dates are negotiable.

There are positions in several groups. This ad describes my
group.

The research group of Andrew Torda is oriented towards
biomolecular calculation and simulation. We are working in
areas such as low-resolution (protein fold recognition) force
fields and mixing knowledge-based force fields and
experimental data. Most recent work has moved towards the
border of the high fashion area, bioinformatics and the nice
reliable area of force fields. We are a Boltzmann-free zone
(our force fields are much more entertaining).
Have a look at
     http://www.rsc.anu.edu.au/~torda
If you follow the link to publications, it will give you an
idea of recent work. There is also a link to an HTML version
of this text.

All the projects in the group involve coding - not just
applications. It would be an advantage to have a reasonable
knowledge of data structures and algorithms and programming
experience in a civilized language (not fortran).
Some knowledge of graph theory would not be a disadvantage.

Salary: A$39,316 - A$47,444 per annum. Grants are provided
towards travel and removal. Positions are initially for two
years with a likely extension to a third year.

The Research School of Chemistry is part of the Institute of
Advanced Studies which runs special research schools, in
parallel to the normal teaching schools, and without any
undergraduate teaching duties. The university is in the centre
of Canberra (the nation's capital).

Given the research orientation of the school, there is a
lively academic environment. We have close contacts with the
school's other theoretical groups in statistical mechanics,
quantum chemistry and chemical physics. From the point of view
of experimental groups, we maintain close ties to the school's
NMR, X-ray crystallography and molecular biology groups.

A final application must reach the school office by slow mail,
but initially, contact me directly.
The formal advertisement is at

I am a painter who is interested in the mathematical identities found in
nature, such as the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio, the logarithmic
spiral, pi, e, etcetera. In general, I am interested in how the patterns
and forms of nature are related to a hidden mathematical order and, more
specifically, the formulas containing these mathematical identities
describing specific relationships. If you can recommend any sites or
newsgroups on this subject, I would appreciate it.

My current question is about the ruffled clam shell. Can anyone give me a
formula which describes the form of this shell? I assume it would contain
some sort of fractal because the shape is fractal.

I am not sure which newsgroup has the expertise to answer my question.
Should I ask the mathematicians this question? Thank you for any guidance or
expertise you can lend. Please remember that I am a layperson and I would
appreciate information related in non-technical jargon.

Sally,

You might enjoy D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson's "On growth and form". It was
first published in 1917 and therefore predates fractals for some six
decades, but may be very close to what you seem to want. There exists an
inexpensive Dover paperback reprint (ISBN 0486671356) and Canto abridged
paperback edition (ISBN 0521437768).

As for fractals, there are many popular science books, for example
Fractals Everywhere by Barnsley (ISBN 0120790696) or Chaos and Fractals by
Peitgen and coworkers (ISBN 0387979034).

Best regards, Primoz

INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR DIFFRACTION DATA
LUDO FREVEL CRYSTALLOGRAPHY SCHOLARSHIPS
2001
DEADLINE COMING SOON! Applications for the year 2001 awards must be
received by ICDD no later than 31 October 2000.

The science of crystallography has played a key role in the development
of X-ray diffraction, electron diffraction and neutron diffraction for
the elucidation of the atomic structure of matter. Crystallography is
an interdisciplinary branch of science taught in departments of
physics, chemistry, geology, molecular biology, metallurgy, and
material science. To encourage promising graduate students to pursue
crystallographically oriented research, the International Centre for
Diffraction Data (ICDD) has established a Crystallography Scholarship
Fund, now known as the Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Fund.
Its name was recently adopted to honor the founder of the fund, Dr.
Ludo Frevel. While the Ewald Prize is awarded every three years to an
internationally recognized crystallographer, little effort has been
made by science departments to cultivate aspiring crystallographers.
Convinced of the beneficial, scientific impact of the proposed
scholarships for crystallographically oriented research, the ICDD has
solicited funds from private and industrial sectors to support this
program. The ICDD has awarded thirty-three scholarships since 1992.
The year 2000 Scholarship Awards were in the amount of $2,250 each.
Applications for the year 2001 awards must be received by ICDD no later
than 31 October 2000.

Qualifications for the applicant: The applicant should be a graduate
student seeking a degree with major interest in crystallography e.g.
crystal structure analysis, crystal morphology, modulated structures,
correlation of atomic structure with physical properties, systematic
classification of crystal structures, phase identification and
materials characterization. There are no restrictions on country, race,
age or sex. The term of the scholarship is one year. The recipient may
make application for one renewal at the end of the first year. Because
a limited number of scholarships are awarded, renewal applications will
be considered on a competitive basis in conjunction with all
applications that have been submitted up to the closing date.

Submit:
„h Curriculum Vitae, listing degree(s) held and degree(s) sought.
„h A one-page proposal by the graduate student describing the type of
crystallographic research to be partially supported by scholarship.
„h A supportive letter from the sponsoring professor of an accredited
university or an institute of technology on institution letterhead.

Restrictions on the scholarship fund:
„h The scholarship stipend is to be used by the graduate student to help
defray tuition and laboratory fees. A portion of the stipend may be
applied to registration fees to accredited scientific meetings related
to crystallography.
„h No more than one scholarship will be awarded to applicants at any one
accredited institution per year.
„h The funds of the scholarship are not to be used for travel.

A committee consisting of the ICDD Scholarship Committee Chairman, the
ICDD Chairman, the Chairman of the ICDD Education Subcommittee, the
ICDD Corporate Secretary and three individuals without conflict of
interest administer the awarding of the scholarships. One or more
accredited professors (with no conflicts of interest) may be invited to
assist in the selection of successful candidates.

Applications must be received by 31 October 2000. Fax transmittals
will be accepted until 31 October 2000, however a hard copy of the
application must be mailed and received by ICDD no later than 1
December 2000. E-mail applications are not acceptable. Please mail to:

I just finished an interesting book called "Pharmacology is Murder" by
Dirk Wyle. Found it on Amazon. It was pretty unique for a medical
mystery because the hero is a lab scientist whose working in a medical
examiners lab. Lots of realistic detail on HPLC and mass spec. He is
sent out to infiltrate a pharmacology department to solve a murder.
I've never seen a lab scientist as a hero in a book before. Can anybody
suggest any more books like this?

The merger between AOL & Time Warner will be approved -
BUT - the F.C.C. is going to require some form of open access.
The question is - open access for WHOM? Will the conditions
protect ONLY THE CORPORATIONS or will they also protect YOU
the END USER?

This is what AOL and Time Warner have to say about censorship
and speed capping:

IF TIME WARNER DETERMINES THAT THE SUBSCRIBER HAS FAILED TO
COMPLY WITH THE SERVICE'S STANDARDS OF CONDUCT OR LIMITS ON
BANDWIDTH UTILIZATION, TIME WARNER MAY SUSPEND SUBSCRIBER'S
ACCOUNT. TIME WARNER COMMUNICATIONS SHALL HAVE THE SOLE AND
UNREVIEWABLE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER CONTENT VIOLATES
THESE STANDARDS.

DID YOU KNOW:

AOL cancelled the account of the President of the Chemically
Disabled Americans - they said it was a commercial usage! The
president ran it from his bedroom. As a public service. His
comment expressing his outrage is contained in the F.C.C. file.

DID YOU KNOW:

These are the things that Colette Lantelme, Security Administrator
of Road Runner, claims are against the Road Runner Acceptable Use
Policy.

1. Posting a message on any "For Sale" message board.
2. Listing a product on any Ebay, Ubid, or similar service. (Boy, is
    EBAY gonna be PISSED!)
3. Announcing a job availability.
4. Replying to a job availability.
5. Mentioning that the user had tried any product and found
    it satisfactory - or unsatisfactory.
6. Posting a message to any "personals" board.
7. Asking a user for a date.
8. Calling attention to any commercial or non-commercial
website, including personal websites provided as part
of the purchase price of the service sold by Time-Warner.
9. Calling attention to any IRC chat channel.

Want to say that Al Gore can't be elected because he is a democrat?
No problem! Want to say that Leiberman can't be elected because he
is Jewish? BANNED FROM AOL!

A very small effort on your part can well induce the F.C.C. to
outlaw this censorship and Speed Capping, and protect YOU as well
as the corporations. You have some powerful allies; Consumer's Union,
Disney, and many commercial software companies. Even the Attorney
General of the State of Connecticut is on YOUR side - you may read
their petitions at the link below.

But YOU MUST HELP!

You can F.I.L.E YOUR C.O.M.M.E.N.T IN THE O.F.F.I.C.I.A.L C.A.S.E FILE!

---> This is NOT merely a EMAIL message which will be ignored <---

Any response which you file will be an OFFICIAL document included in
the F.C.C. FILINGS!
It will appear in the OFFICIAL CASE FILE as a comment
read by ALL THE ATTORNEYS who are participating in the action, as well
as ALL THE F.C.C. C.O.M.M.I.S.S.I.O.N.E.R.S! It will remain there
FOREVER as part of the O.F.F.I.C.I.A.L R.E.C.O.R.D of the AOL - Time
Warner merger! With YOUR name on it!

Since this internet campaign started, approximately 250 comments have
been received by the F.C.C from individuals. (Some are funny as hell!)
We need twice that!

PLEASE - can you HELP PROTECT IRC and USENET? SEND the SAMPLE COMMENT
to the F.C.C!

The F.C.C. is on the verge of requiring the protections this letter asks
for. Your letter might PUSH THEM OVER THE EDGE and make the internet
a BETTER PLACE for EVERYONE, INCLUDING YOU!

MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO USENET AND IRC! This letter WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
if there are enough of them received by the F.C.C. If at least 500
letters are received, we can probably count on the F.C.C. to take decisive
action to prohibit both censorship and speed capping - and to protect
the users, not merely the corporations.

GET A CHAIN RESPONSE STARTED! I can do only so much. I can only post
to so many newsgroups - I can't do it alone. WE ALL NEED YOUR HELP!

Copy this message and post it to (at least) 3 newsgroups where it does
not appear! Then, Send this message by EMAIL to (at least) 5 friends!
If everyone does that, we can FLOOD THE F.C.C. with comments and THEY
WILL LISTEN!

The major ccorporations and the politicians are coonducting this merger
on their terms, for their benefit, and giving no thought whatsoever to
the users. They are all fighting over our dollars, but do they give any
concern whatsoever to us? Does a fish ride a bicycle?

They believe that the internet, which WE, not them, made great, is now
too valuable to be left the users. Their attitude is, "let them comment,
they don't count, they are not rich corporations, they are merely poor
users. Will YOU let them get away with this?

They can ignore 250 users. They can't ignore thousands of users.

Right now our comments, all 250 of them, are a minor agravation to
the "power structure." They have to wade through them to get to the
important stuff, the corporate, I.E. money, responses.

THOUSANDS OF COMMENTS ARE NOT AN AGRAVATION, THEY ARE A POLITICAL
PHENOMENON! DO YOUR PART!

LET THE F.C.C. know that THE INTERNET DOSEN'T STAND FOR ANY BULL! Tell
the F.C.C. I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!

The future of USENET and IRC depends on the F.C.C. forcing all ISP's
starting with Time Warner and AOL to recognize free speech and fair
marketing practices. PLEASE HELP!

TO FILE YOUR COMMENT WITH THE F.C.C:

1. Copy the letter to a file. You can put it on your letterhead
with MS Word or just use a text file. You can make any change to
the letter you want, or add any comment you have. CHANGES ARE GOOD!
They show you READ THE LETTER and REALLY CARE! If you had a bad
experience with AOL or Time Warner PUT IT IN!

2. go to:

https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/websql/prod/ecfs/upload_v2.hts

(This is the official F.C.C. page where electronic filing of petitions
is accomplished)

3. Fill out Cover sheet

Put your name, Address, Email address, and all other required
information on the form. (Remember this is an OFFICIAL FILING so
the F.C.C. requires this information. It is not published unless you
put it in the letter as well as the form)

Proceeding is

             00 - 30

(Leave out the spaces, they are there to get by the spam filter.
Put in the -)

(this is VERY IMPORTANT, it is the case number of the AOL TIME
WARNER APPLICATION for merger. If you get it wrong, your comment
WILL NOT BE FILED!)

4. Send Cover Sheet.

5. After you send the Cover Sheet, THEN select the filename of the
letter you are sending, and send that.

6. After you send the file, you will receive an official
confirmation of the filing from the F.C.C.

7. You can TYPE a comment instead of sending this sample comment, but
DON'T PASTE THE SAMPLE COMMENT into the Short Comment box - it
DOESN'T FIT!

Comment will appear for all to read in about 4 hours
(but won't appear after business hours or on the weekend.)

8. If you want to see your letter, or read the other submissions,
other letters, the AOL petition, the Disney or Consumer's Union
objections, etc, here is the URL - Its long! Put in the case
number, 00 - 30 (no spaces) and nothing else.

https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/websql/prod/ecfs/comsrch_v2.hts?ws_mode=retrieve_list&id_proceeding=00-30&start=1

IF YOU LIVE N A FOREIGN COUNTRY and wish to make a comment (This is a
world wide problem) the Cover Sheet will not accept your address. You
can do this: Enter your real name and address including country in
the address lines, but in the STATE box put CA and in the ZIP (first
field) put 90001. Ignore the 2nd zip field. Ignore the 2nd form, and
TYPE your SHORT COMMENT in the 3rd form. Please identify the country
you live in the message. Don't use the sample letter supplied
because it isn't appropriate for non-US residents.

***>Remember the FORM INFORMATION will NOT appear, only the letter.

NOTE: There is NO WORD WRAPPING on the letter below, to make it
easy for you to format so it may be hard to read until you copy it,
depending on your news reader.

        SAMPLE MESSAGE

------------cut here----------------------------------------------

To the FCC Commissioners

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Time Warner has the following Acceptable use policy:

IF TIME WARNER DETERMINES THAT THE SUBSCRIBER HAS FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE SERVICE'S STANDARDS OF CONDUCT OR LIMITS ON BANDWIDTH UTILIZATION, TIME WARNER MAY SUSPEND SUBSCRIBER'S ACCOUNT. TIME WARNER COMMUNICATIONS SHALL HAVE THE SOLE AND UNREVIEWABLE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER CONTENT VIOLATES THESE STANDARDS.

Time Warner, and AOL, which has a similar and even more restrictive policy, claims to have the right to terminate anyone, at any time, for any reason.

At first glance this seems reasonable. After all, they own the system. But do they acctually OWN the system?

There is no doubt they own the gate, and it is well-known that both AOL and Time Warner have no hesitation in closing the gate. Time Warner does this by enforcing this condition on its subscribers:

Don't try to tell me that AOL and Time Warner close that gate only on "bad" speech, the pornographers, the hate-mongers, the "spammers," and gives the rest of us "nice" people free reign to post "acceptable" messages. It is well known what these companies find unacceptable - anything whatsoever that rubs them, or anyone else, the wrong way.

It has become common knowledge in USENET and IRC Chat that any person can obtain the canceling of a Road Runner account merely by making complaints to Road Runner abuse. The complaints do not have to be justified, they don't even have to be true, there just needs to be made.

Many Road Runner customers have figured this out, and never upload anything to USENET through Road Runner, or access IRC through Road Runner, but obtain a backup account to protect their high speed access. Unfortunately, the majority of the people don't find this out until they have been terminated for "abuse" that never happened. What is worse, recently Road Runner has terminated some customers who posted material it considered objectionable which was not even posted through Road Runner, but through this back-up ISP!

It is beginning to appear that Road Runner is actively trying to get rid of anyone who regularly posts political, social, or any other comment to USENET or IRC, and that Road Runner is attempting to convert the internet from a way to express views to a service where they can sell their other Time Warner offerings. This is not what the internet is supposed to be.

Regular users of USENET and IRC have become extremely concerned that the merger of AOL and Time Warner will result in the disappearance of USENET and IRC. The merged company will not prohibit access entirely, it will just terminate the account of anyone who posts any message offensive to anyone.... and any message will of course be offensive to someone. USENET and IRC will become vehicles where the only matter taht can be discussed without fear of termination will be Road Runner cartoons.

If the merger takes place, the merged company will be in a position where they can effectively remove both USENET and IRC as viable components of the internet, at least for users with high-speed access. I would like to see some insurance that this cannot happen.

Please, for the benefit of internet users who do use the internet for purposes of speaking out rather than purchasing interactive cartoons or games from Time Warner, if you approve the merger between Time Warner and AOL merger, include some protection for USENET and IRC users so that these valuable internet functions cannot be eliminated from the internet by the new company. Please, in your requirement for open access on the internet, include open access for the person who actually uses, and pays, for the internet, the end user, as well as for the corporations.

Thank You for your attention.

The merger between AOL & Time Warner will be approved -
BUT - the F.C.C. is going to require some form of open access.
The question is - open access for WHOM? Will the conditions
protect ONLY THE CORPORATIONS or will they also protect YOU
the END USER?

This is what AOL and Time Warner have to say about censorship
and speed capping:

IF TIME WARNER DETERMINES THAT THE SUBSCRIBER HAS FAILED TO
COMPLY WITH THE SERVICE'S STANDARDS OF CONDUCT OR LIMITS ON
BANDWIDTH UTILIZATION, TIME WARNER MAY SUSPEND SUBSCRIBER'S
ACCOUNT. TIME WARNER COMMUNICATIONS SHALL HAVE THE SOLE AND
UNREVIEWABLE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER CONTENT VIOLATES
THESE STANDARDS.

DID YOU KNOW:

DID YOU KNOW:

AOL cancelled the account of the President of the Chemically
Disabled Americans - they said it was a commercial usage! The
president ran it from his bedroom. As a public service. His
comment expressing his outrage is contained in the F.C.C. file.

The FCC is on the verge of requiring the protections this letter asks
for. Your letter might PUSH THEM OVER THE EDGE and make the internet
a BETTER PLACE for EVERYONE, INCLUDING YOU!

PLEASE - can you HELP PROTECT IRC and USENET? SEND the SAMPLE COMMENT
to the F.C.C!

MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO USENET AND IRC! This letter WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
if there are enough of them received by the FCC. If at least 500
letters are received, we can probably count on the FCC to take decisive
action to prohibit both censorship and speed capping - and to protect
the users, not merely the corporations.

LET THE F.C.C. know that THE INTERNET DOSEN'T STAND FOR ANY BULL! Tell
the F.C.C. I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!

The future of USENET and IRC depends on the FCC forcing all ISP's
starting with Time Warner and AOL to recognize free speech and fair
marketing practices. PLEASE HELP!

TO FILE YOUR COMMENT WITH THE F.C.C:

1. Copy the letter to a file. You can put it on your letterhead
with MS Word or just use a text file. You can make any change to

        SAMPLE MESSAGE

------------cut here----------------------------------------------

To the FCC Commissioners

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am writing in response to the proposed merger of America Time Warner Communications. There are two elements in the proposal that greatly concern me. I would hope that the commissioners would carefully consider these in making their decisions.

The development and evolution of the Internet is a study in how a system without artificial limits can exceed anyone's expectations. The "rules of the road" for the information superhighway, such as they are, have been agreed upon by community consensus and is a marvelous example of market forces at work. One of the guiding principles which has evolved within this community is the open and free exchange of information, much as there is within the academic environment that fostered the early years of the Internet. The internet has always subscribed to and operated under the guarantees of the First amendment to the Constitution, without regard for questioning whether this was a legal requirement.

The proposed merger as set forth in proceeding # 00-30 will violate every principle of freedom of speech upon which the Internet has historically been based. Specifically, the combination of Time Warner and AOL will be powerful enough to establish the rules which everyone desiring high speed, and possibly any, access will be subject to, and those rules are truly alarming to those accustomed to freedom of the net. They state:

This language is quite frightening, given that it grants license to censor to a corporate entity not to the common good, but to bottom line economic forces. Our guarantees under the constitution were designed by its authors to be beyond those forces for good reason. They recognized that such a fundamental right to freedom could never be effectively overseen by a purely commercial, or even political, entity. I believe that the Commissioners would be well served to remember that example, and move to insure that access cannot be denied to the internet by the gatekeeper based on the content of the speech of the user.

My second concern is related, although it could never have been foreseen by our founding fathers. Bandwidth is fundamental to the ability to communicate on the Internet. Here again, Time Warner Communication proposes to hold a noose around the available bandwidth, and, subject to their whim alone, choke off access to those they deem unacceptable.

Certainly this commission cannot order how much bandwidth they supply to their customer. But this commission can and should insure that any company, as a condition of the privilege of merger, deliver to their customers what they promise. A company which advertises and sells unlimited access, then terminates those who use this access, while retaining what, to them is the most profitable base, those who do not use this access, is defrauding the public.

I urge you, therefore, to consider these concerns in reaching your decision. The easy course will be to merely accede to the demands of the corporations. That, however, will require that someone eventually solve the problems that will inevitably result from that decision - and the person who must repair the damage may be you.

Thank you for your attention to my concerns.

        SAMPLE MESSAGE

------------cut here----------------------------------------------

To the FCC Commissioners

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The internet is in crisis. Your decision will either save it or guarantee its destruction as a form a communication for the average citizen.

The internet was designed as a form of communication, not as a tool of commercial concerns to sell "content" to their subscribers. But to communicate on the internet, first you must get access to the internet.

You are considering a merger between to two most powerful gatekeepers to the internet. The question is, will I be able to enter through that gate? And, once there, may I voice my concerns on important social, political, and even commercial concerns, or will I be summarily banned because the gatekeeper doesn't approve of what I say?

The rules of AOL and Time Warner are extremely clear; if they do not approve my speech, I cannot speak. I am not allowed on the internet unless I defer to their opinion, not voice mine. And, if I decide to use the internet to send data, rather than merely purchase "content" from Time Warner and AOL, I am again summarily speed capped or banned from the internet. Their Acceptable Use policy states:

Why does Time Warner have the SOLE AND UNREVIEWABLE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER CONTENT VIOLATES THEIR STANDARDS? Why can't I post comment based on MY standards, not theirs? And, when I purchase UNLIMITED SERVICE, why can they then establish bandwith limitations? Is this unlimited service? Is not a company required to deliver what the customer pays for?

I regularly correspond with users from many foreign countries. Their ISP's cannot control their speech. Why does not an American citizen have at least the same freedom of speech as do the citizens of foreign countries? We taught them the value and power of freedom of speech. Must they now teach us how to avoid its death at the hands of commercial mega-corporations concerned only with their sale of "content?"

If AOL and Time Warner are allowed to take over the responsibility of deciding who can say what to whom, how will you return the internet to its stated purpose of a media of public discourse? How will you put the genie back in the bottle? How will you explain to me why my viewpoint is so offensive that I must be barred from the internet?

I sincerely entreat you to consider me, and all other citizen users of the internet. Please, when you make your decision, insure that I can continue to use the internet, and specifically that high speed access will not be denied to me based upon the quantity or content of my speech.

Thank You for your attention.

TESTIMONIAL

Hello - My name is Johnathon Rourke, I'm from Rhode
Island.

The enclosed information is something I almost let
slip through my fingers. Fortunately, sometime later
I re-read everything and gave some thought and study
to it. Two years ago, the corporation I worked for
the past twelve years down-sized and my position was
eliminated. After unproductive job interviews, I
decided to open my own business. Over the past year,
I incurred many unforeseen financial problems. I owed
my family, friends and creditors over $35,000. The
economy was taking a toll on my business and I just
couldn't seem to make ends meet. I had to refinance
and borrow against my home to support my family and
struggling business.

AT THAT MOMENT something significant happened in my
life. I am writing to share the experience in hopes
that this could change your life FOREVER TOO.

In mid December, I received this program in my e-mail.
Six months prior to receiving this program I had been
sending away for information on various business
opportunities. All of the programs I received, in my
opinion, were not cost effective. They were either
too difficult for me to comprehend or the initial
investment was too much for me to risk to see if they
would work. But as I was saying, in December of 1997
I received this program via e-mail. I didn't send for
it, or ask for it, they just got my name off a mailing
list of some kind.

THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!!!

After reading it several times, to make sure I was
reading it correctly. I couldn't believe my eyes!
Here was a MONEY MAKING MACHINE I could start
immediately without any debt.

Like most of you I was still a little skeptical and a
little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So
I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office - 1 (800)
725-2161, 24-hrs and they confirmed that it is indeed
not illegal to participate in the program. After
that I decided "WHY NOT!?!?!??."

Initially I sent out 10,000 e-mails. It cost me about
$15 for my time on-line. The great thing about e-mail
is that I don't need any money for printing to send
out the program, and because I also send the product
(reports) by e-mail, my only expense is my time.

In less than one week, I was starting to receive
orders for REPORT #1. By January 13, I had received
26 orders for REPORT #1. Your goal is to RECEIVE at
least 20 orders for REPORT #1 within 2 weeks. If you
don't - SEND OUT MORE PROGRAMS UNTIL YOU DO.

My first step in making $50,000 in 90-120 days was
done. By January 30, I had received 196 orders for
REPORT #2. Your goal is to RECEIVE at least 100 +
orders for REPORT #2 within 2 weeks. If not - SEND
OUT MORE PROGRAMS UNTIL YOU DO!

Once you have 100 orders, the rest is easy, relax, you
will make your $50,000 goal!

Well I had 196 orders for REPORT #2, 96 more than
I needed. So I sat back and relaxed. By March 1, of
my e-mailing of 10,000, I received $58,000 with more
coming in every day. I paid off ALL MY DEBTS and
bought a much needed new car!

Please take the time to read this plan - IT WILL
CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER$!!! Now remember, it can't
work if you don't try it. This program does work, but
you must follow it EXACTLY, especially the rules of
not trying to place your name in a different place.
It won't work and you'll lose out on a lot of money!
In order for this program to work, you must meet your
goal of 20 + orders for REPORT #1, and 100 + orders
for REPORT #2 and you will make $50,000 or more in the
first 90-120 days.

I AM LIVING PROOF THAT IT WORKS!!! If you choose not
to participate in this program, I am sorry for you, it
really is a great opportunity with little cost and no
risk to you. If you choose to participate, follow the
program exactly and you will be on your way to
financial security. If your a fellow business owner
and are in financial trouble like I was, or you just
want to start your own business, consider this a sign.
 I DID! $$

Sincerely,

Johnathon Rourke

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE ORIGINATOR OF THIS
PROGRAM:

By the time you have read the enclosed program and
reports, you should have concluded that such a
program, and one that is legal, could not have been
created by an amateur. Let me tell you a little about
what happened to me. I had a profitable business for
10 years. Then in 1979 my business began falling off.
I was doing the same things that were previously
successful for me, but it wasn't working. Finally, I
figured it out. It wasn't me, it was the economy.
Inflation and recession had replaced the stable
economy that had been with us since 1945. I don't
have to tell you what happened to the unemployment
rate... because many of you know from first hand
experience. There were more failures and bankruptcies
than ever before. The middle class was vanishing.
Those who knew what they were doing invested wisely
and moved up. Those who did not, including those who
never had anything to save or invest, were moving down
into the ranks of the poor. As the saying goes, "THE
RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER." The
traditional methods of making money will never allow
you to "move up" or "get rich." Inflation will see to
that.

You have just received information that can give you
financial freedom for the rest of your life, with "NO
RISK" and "JUST A LITTLE BIT OF EFFORT." You can make
more money in the next few months and following years
than you have ever imagined. I should also point out
that I will not see a penny of this money, nor anyone
else who has provided a testimonial for this program.
I have retired from the program after sending
thousands and thousands of programs.

Follow the program EXACTLY AS INSTRUCTED. Do not
change it in any way. It works exceedingly well as it
is now. Remember to e-mail a copy of this exciting
report to everyone you can think of. One of the
people you send this to may send out 50,000... and
your name will be on every one of them! Remember
though, the more you send out, the more potential
customers you will reach.

Just follow the instructions, and you will make money.
It does NOT require you to come into contact with
people or make or take any telephone calls. This
simplified e-mail marketing program works perfectly
100% EVERY TIME!!!

HERE'S HOW THIS AMAZING PROGRAM WILL MAKE YOU
THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS$$$$!!!!

I am sure that you could use up to $50,000 or more in
the next 90-120 days. Before you say "BULL. . ."
Please read this program carefully. This is not a
chain letter but a perfectly legal money making
business. As with all multilevel businesses, we build
our business by recruiting new partners and selling
our products. Every state in the USA allows you to
recruit new multilevel business partners, and we sell
and deliver a product for EVERY dollar received.

YOUR ORDERS COME BY MAIL AND ARE FILLED BY E-MAIL,

so you are not involved in personal selling. You do
it privately in your own home, store or office. This
is the EASIEST marketing plan anywhere! It is simply
order filling by e-mail!

The product is informational and instructional
material, keys to the secrets for everyone on how to
open the doors to the magic world of E-COMMERCE, the
information highway, the wave of the future!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~

P L A N S U M M A R Y :

(1) You order the 4 reports listed below - $5 (US)
each. They come to you by e-mail.

(2) Save a copy of this entire letter and put your
name after Report #1 and move the other names down.

(3) Via the Internet, access Yahoo.com or any of the
other major search engines to locate hundreds of bulk
e-mail service companies (search for "bulk e-mail")
and have them send 25,000 - 50,000 e-mails for you -
about ($49+).

(4) Orders will come to you by postal mail - simply
e-mail them the Report they ordered. Let me ask you -
isn't this about as easy as it gets?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~

Oh, by the way, there are over 50 MILLION e-mail
addresses with millions more joining the Internet each
year, so don't worry about "running out" or
"saturation." People are used to seeing and hearing
the same advertisements every day on the radio and TV.
How many times have you received the same pizza
flyers on your door step? Then one day you are hungry
for pizza and you order one. Same thing with this
program. I received this letter many times - then one
day I decided it was time I tried it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~

YOU CAN START TODAY - JUST DO THESE EASY STEPS:

STEP #1. ORDER THE FOUR REPORTS

Order the four reports shown on the list below (you
can't sell them if you don't order them).
For each report, send $5 (US) CASH, the NAME & NUMBER
OF THE REPORT YOU ARE ORDERING, YOUR E-MAIL
ADDRESS,
and YOUR NAME & RETURN ADDRESS (in case of a post
office delivery problem) to the person whose name
appears on the list below the report.

MAKE SURE YOUR RETURN ADDRESS IS ON YOUR
ENVELOPE IN
CASE OF ANY MAIL PROBLEMS!

Within a few days you will receive, via e-mail each of
the four reports. Save them on your computer so you
can send them to the 1,000's of new prospects who will
order them from you.

STEP #2 ADD YOUR MAILING ADDRESS TO THIS LETTER

a. Look below for the listing of the four reports.
b. After you've ordered the four reports, delete the
name and address under REPORT #4. This person has
made it through the cycle.
c. Move the name and address under REPORT #3 down to
REPORT #4.
d. Move the name and address under REPORT #2 down to
REPORT #3.
e. Move the name and address under REPORT #1 down to
REPORT #2.
F. Insert your name and address in the REPORT #1
position.
Please make sure you COPY ALL INFORMATION, every name
and address, ACCURATELY!

STEP #3 SAVE THIS LETTER

Take this entire letter, including the modified list
of names and save it to your computer. Make NO
changes to these instructions. Now you are ready to
use this entire e-mail to send via e-mail to new
prospects.

Report #1 will tell you how to download bulk e-mail
software and e-mail addresses so you can send it out
to thousands of new prospects while you sleep!
Remember that 50,000 + new people are joining the
Internet every month. Your cost to participate in
this is practically nothing - surely you can afford
$20 (US) and initial bulk mailing cost. You obviously
already have a computer and an Internet connection and
e-mail is FREE!

PRIMARY METHODS OF BUILDING YOUR DOWNLINE:

METHOD #1 SENDING BULK E-MAIL

Let's say that you decide to start small, just to see
how it goes and we'll presume you and all those
involved e-mail out only 2,000 programs each. Let's
also presume that the mailing receives a (0.5%)
response. The response could be much better. Also,
many people will e-mail out hundreds of thousands of
programs instead of just 2,000 - why stop at 2,000?
But continuing with this example, you send out only
2,000 programs. With a (0.5% ) response, that is only
10 orders for REPORT #1. Those 10 people respond by
sending out 2,000 programs each for a total of 20,000.
Out of those (0.5%) 100 people respond and order
REPORT #2. Those 100 mail out 2,000 programs each for
a total of 200,000 total. The (0.5%) response to that
is 10,000 orders for REPORT #4. That's 10,000 FIVE
DOLLAR BILLS for you. CASH!!!

Your total income in this example is $50 + $500 +
$5,000 + $50,000 for a total of $55,550.

REMEMBER FRIEND, THIS IS ASSUMING
1,990 OUT OF THE 2,000 PEOPLE YOU
E-MAIL TO WILL DO ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING AND TRASH THIS PROGRAM!
DARE TO THINK FOR A MOMENT
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF EVERYONE,
OR HALF SENT OUT 100,000 PROGRAMS
INSTEAD OF JUST 2,000.

You can believe many people will do just that, and
more!!!

METHOD #2 PLACING FREE ADS ON THE
INTERNET

Advertising on the Internet is very, very inexpensive,
and there are HUNDREDS of FREE places to advertise.
Let's say you decide to start small just to see how
well it works. Presume your goal is to get ONLY 10
people to participate on your first level. (Placing a
lot of FREE ads on the Internet will EASILY get a
larger response.) Also, assume that everyone else in
YOUR ORGANIZATION gets ONLY 10 downline members.
Look
how this small number accumulates to achieve the
STAGGERING results below:

... 1st level - your first 10 send you $5
                                                     $50
... 2nd level - 10 members from those 10 ($5 X 100)
                                                    $500
... 3rd level - 10 members from those 100 ($5 X 1,000)
                                                  $5,000
... 4th level - 10 members from those 1000 ($5 X
10,000) 50,000

$$$$$$$$$$ THIS TOTALS -------$55,550 $$$$$$$$$$

AMAZING ISN'T IT? Remember friends, this assumes that
the people who participate only recruit 10 new people
each. Think for a moment what would happen if they
got 20 people to participate! Most people get 100's
of participants and many will continue to work this
program, sending out programs WITH YOUR NAME ON THEM
for years!!! JUST THINK ABOUT IT!!!

People are going to get e-mails about this program
from you or somebody else and many will work this
plan. The question is, don't you want your name to be
on the e-mails they will send out? "You can't win the
lotto unless you have a ticket."

***DON'T MISS OUT!!! *** JUST TRY IT ONCE!!! ***

**SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!! ** YOU'LL BE AMAZED!!!**

four reports IMMEDIATELY so you will have them when
the orders start coming in because, when you receive a
$5 order, you MUST send out the requested
product/report. It is required for this program to
qualify as a legal business, not to mention they need
the reports to send out their letters (with your name
on them!)

ALWAYS PROVIDE SAME-DAY SERVICE ON THE ORDERS
YOU
RECEIVE.
Be patient and persistent with this program - If you
follow the instructions exactly - SUCCESSFUL results
will follow.. $$$$$

********** YOUR SUCCESS GUIDELINES **********

Follow these guidelines to guarantee your success: If
you don't receive 20 orders for REPORT #1 within two
weeks, continue advertising or sending e-mails until
you do. Then, a couple of weeks later you should
receive at least 100 orders for REPORT #2. If you
don't continue advertising or sending e-mails until
you do. Once you have received 100 or more orders for
REPORT #2, YOU CAN RELAX, because the system is
already working for you, and the cash will continue to
roll in!

THIS IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER; Every time your name is
moved down on the list, you are placed in front of a
DIFFERENT report. You can KEEP TRACK of your PROGRESS
by watching which reports people are ordering from
you. To generate more income simply send another
batch of e-mails or continue placing ads and start the
whole process again! There is no limit to the income
you will generate from this business!

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Before you make your decision as to whether or not you
participate in this program, please answer one
question, ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOUR PRESENT INCOME
OR
JOB? If the answer is NO, then please look at the
following facts about this super simple MLM program:

... 1. NO face to face selling, NO meetings, NO
inventory! NO telephone calls, NO big cost to start,
NOTHING to learn, NO skills needed! (Surely you know

 http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A17618-2000Jul20.html

In light of the finding that IQ is strongly linked to a small area in the
frontal lobes I would like to suggest what that area is and what it does.
It is well known that intelligence is not caused by what you have learned,
but intelligence reflect how fast you could learn new information.

If the hard evidence of PET scans can not be ignored then the areas
associated with the g factor in intelligence must be doing something. I
would like to propose this area is a timing circuit for searching a persons
holographic neuronets with the goal of collapsing the results to a single
answer - a special
"one/out of many" dichotomy.

By a timing circuit I mean a slow modulating signal acting like a Paul rf
trap frequency. This means the slow wave allows for rich data overwrite on
the standing "intelligent" search command to the nervous system. Such a
system would have strong genetic characteristic but could be mildly improved
or reduced by environmental conditions.

If this idea is basically correct then strong magnetic fields could be used
to "slow" the timing search down and thusly raise temporarily the IQ of an
individual. Such a circuit would have little to do with what one has
learned. It would have little to do with creativity.

To understand the idea of a Paul rf trap frequency being used to provide the
time frame for encoding information consider my article on "Essentials of
Learning in Conscious AI and Biological Systems"
at my web site http://turn.to/ai
