Re: Ro Kampman, new Executive Director of the Biophysical Society

The Executive Board is pleased to inform you that the
Biophysical Society has hired Ms. Rosalba Kampman as the new
Executive Director of the Biophysical Society, effective January 1,
1998. Ro, as she is called, has most recently been Director of
Operations for the American Society for Cell Biology, where she
also served as Director of Publications and as Managing Editor of
"Molecular Biology of the Cell". Her previous background includes
positions with the National Science Teachers Association and with
the West Haven and Orange, Connecticut school systems as a
teacher of the deaf. Ro has a Masters degree in business from John
Hopkins University, a Masters in education from Southern
Connecticut State University, and a Bachelors degree in French
from California State University. We welcome Ro Kampman to the
Society, and look forward to a productive and pleasant interaction.
The Executive Board also wishes to express our deep gratitude
to Emily Gray, who stepped back in as acting Executive Director
for the Society, and without whom we might not have made it.
Special thanks also goes to Carolyn Kulik who has worked long
and hard, under trying circumstances, to keep the annual meeting
running smoothly and on time. We also appreciate the dedicated
work and team spirit of the other Office staff members, all of whom
put in their full team effort.
