Biophysical Society Elects President-Elect and Council

Wilma Olson, of Rutgers University, was elected President-Elect of the =
Biophysical Society. She will assume that office at the 2001 Annual =
Meeting in Boston and serve as President February 2002-February 2003.

Mordecai Blaustein, Susan Hamilton, James Hogle, James Lee, David =
MacLennan, Carol Post, and Ligia Toro de Stefani were elected to serve =
three-year terms (2001-2003) on Council.

Biophysical Society Awards

The Biophysical Society is proud to announce the Society Awards Winners =
for the year 2001.  The award winners will present  lectures at the 2001 =
Annual Meeting and will be recognized at the Awards Ceremony on Monday =
evening, February 19.=20

The following are the 2001 Awardees:

Shimon Weiss
Michael and Kate B=E1r=E1ny Award for Young Investigators for outstanding =
contribution to biophysics by a person who has not yet achieved the rank =
of full professor.

Frederic M. Richards
Distinguished Service Award for service in the field of biophysics.

M. Thomas Record
Founders Award for outstanding achievement in any area of biophysics.

Jane Richardson
The Emily Gray Award for significant contributions to education in =
biophysics.

Stephen Harvey, of the University of Alabama, Birmingham, chaired the =
Awards Committee, which included Mary Dicky Barkley, Christopher Miller, =
Steven Boxer, Jonathan King, and Cynthia Wolberger.
