Is there a current site somewhere on the net where information
about the next CSM annual meeting can be obtained? I recall seeing some
preliminary information but it was hard to find and it was incomplete. If
the CSM is interested in attracting more people to this meeting, it needs
to be well advertised in as many places as possible.
Does the CSM have a Web page?
On another topic, what was the result of the poll concerning the
rejoining of CSM with CFBS?

[Moderator's note: Replies have been set to go to the sender. JN]

I wonder if I might use the auspices of this newsgroup to conduct a quick
and informal survey on teaching loads in Biochemistry/Biology/Biological
Science/Microbiology etc departments in Canadian Universities. I'm
interested in the balance of teaching vs research and I'm interested both
in actual as well as desirable loads.

What department are you in?

What faculty are you in (particularly if its Science or Medicine)

What is your assigned teaching load?
	(i.e.number of courses per semester/year
	     number of lectures per course
number of laboratory sections per week per course
Ideally, I'd also like a total number of student contact hours per
semester if you know or can calculate that.)

What value is assigned to teaching laboratory sections compared with
teaching lecture sections in your department/faculty/institution?

What do you think is a reasonable teaching load in order to be able to
maintain a research program?
	(Please be critical and honest;
my starting assumption is that both are required in a University)

Apologies in advance for any poorly designed questions.

Email replies are fine if this is not an appropriate topic for followup
postings in this group. Depending on the answers or interest, I'll try and
summarize the results.

Thanks in advance to those to take the time and trouble to reply.
