Fungal Ecologist

	The Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology of Texas A&M
University, College Station, TX, USA, invites applications for a
12-month tenure track Assistant Professor position to study the ecology
of fungal plant pathogens.  The individual filling this position will
join the strong interdepartmental graduate Program for the Biology of
Filamentous Fungi that is supported by an NSF graduate training grant
and a developing area of faculty strength in the biological control of
plant diseases.  It is expected that a grant-supported research program
will be established based upon an important Texas disease problem. 
Teaching responsibilities can include graduate teaching and/or teaching
in our expanding undergraduate Bioenvironmental Sciences degree

We are seeking to appoint several qualified applicants to serve as
Principal Investigators, ranking from assistant, associate to full
research fellows. There are five areas within our IBAS Preparatory
Office: disease-resistant transgenic plants, bioreactors, aquaculture,
animal vaccines, and environmental/industrial enzymes. New recruits can
start in May 1998.

Requirements for the applicants include a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree.
Principal investigators are required to engage in programmatic project,
serving as project leaders and/or as collaborative research scientists..
The project leader and the senior research scientist must have at least
10 years of research experience with demonstrated abilities in applied
and/or basic research in one of the biotechnology areas indicated above,
evidence of creativity and organizational skills. They would greatly
benefit from their familiarity with Taiwan*s cultural environment and
language. The junior research scientists must have at least 2 years of
postdoctoral training. Applicants are expected to conduct research in
the above selected areas of biotechnology. Application should include a
cover letter, a complete curriculum vitae as well as the names, address
and telephone numbers and fax numbers of 5 references. Review of
applications will begin around March, 1998, and will continue until
suitable candidates are recruited.

Several Postdoctoral Fellow positions, each working with the above
described
