UNIVERSITY OF REGINA

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry expects to fill several
tenure-track positions over the next 5 years. For July 2000 (subject to
budgetary approval) we are particularly interested in appointing (a) an
Assistant Professor of Biochemistry with expertise in molecular biological
methods and macromolecule synthesis; and (b) one or two physical or
analytical chemists (at the Assistant/Associate Professor level),
especially with expertise in non-aqueous solvent systems or surface
electrochemistry. The Department has a growing presence in fundamental
molecular biochemistry (protein biochemistry, gene expression regulation,
cellular consequences of protein signalling, and anti-cancer drug
interactions) and is entering the field of scanning chemical microscopy.
We also have an ongoing relationship with industry, through the Petroleum
Technology Research Center, regarding the application of ionic liquids work
in the chemical and petroleum industries and with respect to fuel cell
development.

Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should have a Ph.D. degree and
at least two years postdoctoral experience. All appointees will be
expected to teach at the basic undergraduate level as well as in their
specialty at the senior or graduate level. Each should be capable of
developing an independent, externally-funded research program and of
supervising Honours and Graduate students.

Please send applications (or expressions of interest for senior
candidates), by October 31, 1999, including a curriculum vitae, a research
proposal (NSERC format) and the names and addresses of 3 references to Dr.
K.E. Johnson, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of
Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, S4S 0A2 (E-MAIL:
kejohnso@cas.uregina.ca).

In accordance with Canadian Immigration requirements, priority will be
given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada. The
University of Regina is committed to Employment Equity.
