Prunus species in Eastern Europe. We are looking for a colleague in Europe
with expertise in Prunus speciation and natural populations. In particular,
we are interested in wild populations of Prunus avium, P. cerasus, and P.
fruticosa. Our research interest is towards understanding polyploidization
in sour cherry; therefore, it is imperative that we study natural populations.
Please let us know if you know of a scientist who has expertise in this area.
Thank you. Dr. Amy Iezzoni and Dr. Susan Kalisz, Michigan State University

The White-sided Research Group is offering six to ten day (or longer)
research internships to assist in a study of the movements, distribution
and abundance of Pacific white-sided dolphins and killer whales in Queen
Charlotte Strait, off northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Interns will be incorporated into the research team, and will be trained
in techniques of photoidentification and acoustic recording, as well as in
field ethology. No previous experience necessary - cost 120$/day plus

Banner, send an e-mail to zpg@igc.apc.org This is an e-mail address
for Zero Population Growth. They can send you a bunch of literature.
Also check "The Population Bomb" and "The Population Explosion" by
Paul and Anne Ehrlich. You might also call Cornell and see about
getting a copy of a report first published in December 1992 dy Dr.
David Pimintel and colleagues. It has some things you might need.

Hope this helps! :)

Interested in bats ?

BATLINE - Bat Research Information Exchange Network
---------------------------------------------------

BATLINE is a global forum for all bat reseachers. It has been initiated to
promote the exchange of information, questions, and ideas pertaining to bat
research and education. BATLINE was founded in October 1993 in USA and now,
while I'm writing this letter in June 1994, already 192 reseachers and
batworkers have joined it. Most of them are from USA, naturally, but now
there is also about 15 European researchers too. So, if you are interested,
join BATLINE !

To join BATLINE is simple:

If you are an Internet-user, send a one-line message

sub batline yourfirstname yourlastname

to: LISTSERV@UNMVMA.UNM.EDU

(Bitnet-users to: LISTSERV@UNMVMA)

Once You have subscribed, you will receive information on how to send
messages to the BATLINE along with other pertinent information.
Questions regarding this service may be addressed to Mike Balistreri
who's email-address is: MIKEBAL@TRITON.UNM.EDU

Please forward this mail to any batpeople You know !

Keep on batting !

Dear Netters,

I am looking for a E. coli protein that is known *not* to interact
with the heat shock proteins, particularly DnaK, DnaJ, and GrpE.
I need the clone for a negative control. Any ideas?

For many selfing plants, the answer is "one-half". Perhaps you can
elaborate upon your definition of "viable" and give some clue as to
the organisms you're most interested in.

I have a great deal of experience with satellite image data classification
