BIONEWS/bionet.announce is to be used for announcements of widespread
interest to research biologists such as the posting of meeting
announcements, software release announcements (for freely available
non-commercial software only), and course announcements of interest to
research professionals (not routine undergraduate/graduate course
announcements, nor student recruitment flyers, etc.)  Personal
requests for help should be directed to other newsgroups as indicated
by their charters.  Commercial advertisements and announcements of
commercial Web sites, no matter how "informational," are not
distributed in accordance with BIOSCI/bionet policy.  If you wish to
advertise to BIOSCI/bionet readers, please contact us at

PLEASE BE SURE to use descriptive Subject: lines in your postings if
you want people to read your announcement.  They may skip your message
entirely if the Subject: line is not accurate/interesting.

Messages pertaining to biology that are not appropriate for
BIONEWS/bionet.announce will be redirected to BIOFORUM/bionet.general
or another newsgroup as appropriate.  Spams and other attempts to
exploit the system will be deleted without comment.
