CC Aims and Scope:
CC The Journal of Comparative Physiology is essential for researchers of
CC invertebrates, vertebrates, and non-human mammals. Researchers of
CC higher mammals - especially humans - refer to the journal
CC frequently, as studies of other animals have laid the groundwork for
CC our understanding of the complex processes in higher vertebrates.
CC Appearing monthly, Journal of Comparative Physiology A - Sensory,
CC Neural, and Behavioral Physiology is concerned with the sense
CC organs and all aspects of neuronal and neural processes as well as
CC with the experimental analysis of behavior, especially neuro-
CC ethology.

CC Aims and Scope:
CC The journal covers the dynamics and mechanisms of sexual
CC processes in all plant groups, including algae, fungi, mosses and
CC ferns, as well as flowering plants.
CC The following topics are included: differentiation of sexes,
CC including meiosis; differentiation of male and female gametophytes;
CC gene expression during male and female gametophyte development;
CC biotechnological use of pollen; pollen-stigma interaction;
CC recognition and interaction of gametes; events of fertilization;
CC mechanisms of gamete attraction and fusion; mechanisms of
CC incompatibility and incongruity; breeding technology of sexual
CC systems; overcoming breeding barriers; application and mechanisms
CC of gametocides a; mechanisms of apomixis and other sex derivatives.
CC Primary emphasis is placed on the experimental approach using
CC biochemical, molecular, biophysical and immunological methods,
CC but descriptive reports based on submicroscopical and cytochemical
CC methods are not excluded. Special attention is given to the
CC application of new insights in sexual systems for aquaculture of
CC algae, biotechnology of microorganisms, and plant breeding.

CC problems of biological diversification and its ambition is to cover
CC biological differentiation and evolution from the sub-cellular level
CC to species differentiation. Differentiation of eukaryotes at the
CC molecular level is of particular interest to the journal. Orginal
CC contributions in the following areas will be welcome: molecular
CC biology of differentiation, embryonic differentiation, cell growth
CC and division, carcinogenesis and the cancer problem as an aspect of
CC cell differentiation, differentiation markers in pathology and
CC medical research, cell and tissue interactions in vivo and in vitro,
CC genetic mosaicism, cell death, cell hybridization, membrane control
CC of cell differentiation, plant cell differentiation, immunological
CC events relevant to differentiation, differentiation-related proteins
CC and regulation of their expression, transfer and processing of
CC information in biological systems.
