CC I am pleased to announce that Molecular Dynamics, Inc. and
CC Knight-Ridder Information Inc. (formerly known as Dialog) are the
CC first two commercial sponsors of the BIOSCI project. Please visit our
CC World Wide Web home page at URL http://www.bio.net/ to see the new
CC look.
CC
CC I also encourage all BIOSCI readers to thank these sponsors by linking
CC to their home pages ***via the links on the BIOSCI home page***. The
CC financial support of these sponsors will continue to fund our
CC non-profit work after the end of the grant next year, so we encourage
CC our readers - if they value the newsgroup creation work, BIO-JOURNALS
CC table of contents distributions, e-mail list maintance, technical
CC support, archive maintenance, and other work that we do for the
CC biology community - to make use of these hypertext links to sponsors
CC from our home page. Now that we are out of the woods on the project
CC relocation issue, BIOSCI will also commence efforts to provide
CC additional useful, free services via http://www.bio.net/ to make it
CC even more worth your while to visit us on the Web.
CC
CC Details of the BIOSCI sponsorship program were announced earlier this
CC year, but my efforts in this regards had to be curtailed due to the
CC need to find a new home for the project. Now that the move has been
CC accomplished, the sponsorship drive will resume along with many other
CC new efforts (please stay tuned!). Potential sponsors may contact me
CC at biosci-help@net.bio.net.

SO Radiat-Res. 1995 August 143(2) P. 144.
AB Measurements of gamma-irradiated PM2 DNA in solution indicate that nearly
every strand break involves the release of an intact nucleic base. The order

   content of 43%.

AB The radiosensitive Chinese hamster cell line XR-V15B was used to study the
effect of decreased rejoining of DSBs on gene mutations and chromosome
aberrations. It could be shown that a decreased ability to rejoin DSBs does
not seem to influence the incidence and types of gene mutations at the hprt

Repair Kinetics in Plateau-Phase A549 Cells.
SO Radiat-Res. 1995 August 143(2) P. 165.
AB Repair of potentially lethal radiation damage in quiescent A549 cells is
inhibited by adding insulin or IGF-1 to the spent medium. The growth factors
affect the kinetics for repair of DSBs without altering cell cycle kinetics
   for radiation-induced G2-phase delay.

were not significantly different. The results also confirm that gamma rays do
   not induce sister chromatid exchanges.

   >From its amine precursor in aerated aqueous solutions by 50 kHz ultrasound

SO Radiat-Res. 1995 August 143(2) P. 219.
AB Ataxia telangiectasia (AT) is an autosomal recessive disease characterized
on a cellular level by radioresistant DNA synthesis. SV40-immortalized AT
fibroblasts were demonstrated to have significantly reduced radioresistant
