[Employment] Job Opening: Bioninformatics Scientist

The Department of Plant-Microbe Interactions at the Max Planck Institute for
Plant Breeding Research (MPIZ) is seeking a 

Bioinformatics Scientist 

to develop a research program on comparative fungal genomics using second
and third generation DNA sequencing tools complementing ongoing functional
fungal genomics studies within the Department. The successful applicant is
also encouraged to explore opportunities for joint bioinformatics projects
with other research groups in the Department and can participate in national
and international Graduate Partner Programs. 

We seek a candidate with a PhD and an outstanding/internationally
competitive record of research accomplishments in bioinformatics,
statistical physics, computer science or fungal/plant biology. Experience in
genome assembly and/or annotation is advantageous but not a prerequisite.
Payment and benefits are according to the German TVöD. The position will be
for five years.

four science departments, three independent research groups and specialist
