The planned sessions are on viral assembly, double-stranded RNA viruses, the flavivirus replication machinery, the coronavirus replication machinery, virus/host interactions including aspects of viral entry, negative strand RNA viruses and viruses of prokaryotes and archea. In addition to the invited speakers, oral presentations will be selected from the submitted abstracts. The sessions are not exclusive and any topic relevant to the structural biology of viruses will be considered for a poster or oral presentation. For this reason early registration and abstract submission is strongly encouraged. The workshop is part of the training and dissemination activities of the Vizier and Spine2Complexes projects. The Department of Biomolecular Structural Chemistry, Max F. Perutz Labs at University of Vienna is a Training and Dissemination Centre for the EU 6th Framework VIZIER project (http://www.vizier-europe.org ). * INVITED SPEAKERS INCLUDE*: * Virus assembly*: Alasdair Steven (NIAMS) *Double-stranded RNA viruses*: Jon Grimes (Oxford), B.V.V. There is a also a chance to win a trip on the IFAW whale survey vessel "Song of the Whale" WHALEQUEST - win a trip on a whale research vessel! This competition is part of a project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to raise public awareness and interest in research done at the University of St Andrews to improve methods of assessing wildlife populations. To enter you must be aged 16-21 and a UK resident. We can't just count all the whales in the sea, we have to estimate numbers from partial counts. The estimates have uncertainty associated with them and this uncertainty can be large. Do some estimation for yourself by playing WhaleQuest. Enter the competition by submitting your estimate from the game. The better your estimate, the higher your chance of winning the prize and going out to survey whales yourself.
