if this is a posix system you can try setenv ACEDB_MACHINE POSIX_4 make tace aceserver but aceserver uses rpc it would also be interesting to test the beta version of acedb.4_8 available at sanger which comes with GTK libraries and see if that compiles on you mac may be srk can discuss that with you ---
