I would appreciate understanding more about why you are opposed to this idea.

It seems to me that arguments so far have elements of database efficiency
spliced with comments about biological realism. It would be good to separate out
the two as a starting point.

I also agree with Tim that there is a difference between what/how data is stored
in the database (which may not reflect the biological facts) and then how that
data is used to produce a view that is biologically useful.
