Sustainable tropical rainforest management

Hello...
          I am looking for info on Sustainable forestry in
Guyana (Latin America)..  And would be very interested
in hearing what attempts have been made to manage tropical
forestry, and how much is still unknown about sustainaing
a system with 1000 types of trees alone..  Let alone
other types of vegitation and life..
