Department of the Interior to Hold Briefing on Summer Wild Fires

News Advisory:
A briefing will be held on Monday, May 24, on the Department of
the Interior's summer wild land fire outlook detailing fire
suppression and control activities.
This summer holds the potential for serious fires on public
lands, despite increased winter precipitation in many areas of the
west.
Jay Thietten, former wild land firefighter and departmental fire
advisor from the National Inter-Agency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho,
will explain the department's projections and activities for the
1993 fire season, which is already underway.
The briefing will begin at 2 p.m., in room 5141 in the Main
Interior Building, 1849 C St., N.W.
