Info on tropical agric.

I looking for some information on tropical agriculture. I have a friend
who wants to grow cassava, yams etc in Ghana for possible export to US
and Canada. I think there might be some studies done on the problems and
solutions to typical problems in farming  these species of crops  and
storage problems. Any  ideas  will be appreciated.
