SYSTEMS APPROACHES FOR FOREST MANAGEMENT

Ken Franklin, Oregon Division of State Lands, will lead a discussion
of his use of systems dynamics and STELLA in the adaptive management
of forests as part of a total quality management program.
A report to the Clinton administration suggests that a more systemic
approach is needed for the management of forests.
Franklin is currently working on a paper titled "Adaptive Resource
Management: A Capacity Performance Perspective."

and futures concepts in the Northwest region of the United States;
