Mike, There are few systems for automatic grading.  Stress rating is done
by machine.  Metriguard company makes stress rating machines.  They may be
located in Portland, Oregon.  Try to phone the Western Wood Products
Association, in Portland,Oregon. They are a registered American Lumber
Standards Committee grading association and can provide you details.  Also
