MAY MARKETING CONFERENCE
The 1995 International Marketing Conference of Forest Products
organized by Fundacion Chile together with RISI every other year
will focus on examining the globalization of markets for lumber,
secondary wood products, paper products and wood-based panels.
The Conference is aimed at forestry business executives,
entrepreneurs, and analysts concerned with forests and the forest
industries, and the role of Chile in meeting growth in world
markets.
Conference Objectives
Market globalization and the internationalization of the world's
economies are two phenomena that for NAFTA, MERCOSUR and APEC
countries as well as for Chile will have an even greater
significance beginning in 1995. The expanded markets will generate
important changes.
Along those lines, there is also growing consideration of
environmental issues, especially for those industries closely
related to renewable resources. These considerations are already a
market reality in Europe and the topic is discussed openly in North
America and Asia. Therefore, environmental concerns will be
addressed at this Conference.
Expected Benefits
The Conference has turned out to be a annual encounter for business
executives from domestic and international companies. Not only
opinions and experiences are exchanged, but there are also
opportunities to do business.
Participants in the Conference, as in previous years, will receive
the Conference Proceedings. These notes are an important reference
and an aid for concerned specialists and managers, and are not sold
separately.
The following are some of the questions which the Conference will
help to answer:
- What are the major changes that will take place in the wood-based
panels markets worldwide, and what will be their effect on
Chilean production?
- What does forest industries internationalization mean for Chile?
- What will be the impacts of increased recycling on the world's
paper markets?
- How can environmental requirements define or affect a company's
sales strategy?
- What do Chilean forestry experts, Government officials and
analysts outside the forestry sector think about the challenges
it faces, and its future development?
