Black Spruce in Eastern Canada

	I am doing a project that requires me to prune black spruce after 30 years of 
growth.  What I am wondering is what branches to prune?  Mixed views are to 
prune only dead branches to avoid staining.  However if this is the case, why 
would I bother to prune at all; just allow natural pruning to occur.  Reason 
for pruning is we want to harvest a Black Spruce stand for sawlogs.
