There is very little virgin longleaf left (one 40 acre tract in South
Alabama that I know of) but quite abit of second growth, verging on old
growth. Places to check out include Conecuh National Forest (South
Alabama). Blackwater State Forest (Florida). Small amount (about 3,000
acres) in Geneva State Forest (Alabama). Also contact Cedar Creek Land &
Timber Co., Brewton Alabama. They control about 100,000 acres, primarily
longleaf and some slash pine.
