Description
The Department of Wood and Forest Sciences, at Laval University, is looking
for a candidate whose teaching and research would focus on wood-based
panels and wood anatomy.  This will be a tenure track position and the
candidate is expected to:
1.	Teach, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, courses in the area of
wood-based panel manufacturing and wood anatomy as well as supervise
students;
2.	Study the various steps in wood-based panel design and manufacturing as
well as their physical and mechanical properties;
3.	Conduct research and advise graduate students on subjects related to
wood-based panel manufacturing;
4.	Take part in various working groups within the Department, the
University, the Government and the industry.
Qualifications
The candidate should:
1.	Have an undergraduate degree in wood sciences or related field;
2.	Have a Ph. D. in wood sciences from a recognized university;
3.	Have a solid knowledge of wood anatomy, methods used to manufacture
wood-based panels from raw materials to finished products and techniques
needed to determine the mechanical and physical properties of wood-based
products;
4.	Be active in research, be willing to do teamwork, and be able to
establish a fundamental and applied research program dealing with
technologies involved in the use of wood with non wood materials, processes
involved in manufacturing composite products and characterization of
wood-based products;
5.	Be able to successfully obtain competitive research funds from national
grant organisations and industries;
6.	Be able to communicate in French or be willing to learn the language
within a year.
Salary:  According to collective agreement.
Starting date:  By June 1996.
