A Biomass Energy Task Force Meeting is scheduled for June 4 & 5,
1996 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the Harrisburg Hilton & Towers
(717/233-6000). This day and one-half meeting is being held in
conjunction with the Electric Power Research Institute's (Evan Hughes)
Biomass Task Force meeting of June 5 (half day) and June 6 (full day).

The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, EPRI and GPU/Met-Ed/Penelec are
sponsoring/coordinating the Biomass Energy Task Force Meeting. While
the meeting will have a Pennsylvania orientation, the overall
objective transcends the Commonwealth's boundaries. Its objective
is to explore possible actions and investments that meet current
utility (and nonutility) strategies and operational/business
objectives and yet are also on the path to commercial use of
biomass resources for power generation. We hope to bring together
50 to 80 individuals from various organizations in the Commonwealth
and from surrounding states, including: utility and nonutility power
generators, forest products, agriculture, other industries, university,

government, engineering and research.

Topics include:

Willows for Power (Salix consortium)
Forest Management, Carbon Sequestration, and Power Generation
Energy Crops: Vision and Prospects
Biomass Power Systems: Technologies, Costs, and Advancements
Waste Fuels Cofiring
Biomass Refineries
Forest, Agriculture, Environment, and Jobs
Fluidized Bed Repowering
Climate Challenge: What Utilities Have Volunteered to Do

Toward Success: High Yields of Energy Crops
Discussion: Paths to Biomass Development-Partnering with all
Stakeholders
