1995:	Ph.D. - Plant Biotechnology, University College Cork, Ireland- A
comparative evaluation of somaclonal variation and in vitro mutagenesis in
plant improvement using Dianthus 'Mystere' as a model.

Work History:

1997        : Research Assistant - Biotechnology Laboratory, University of
British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

1995 to 1996: Research Assistant - Plant Biotechnology UCC Ltd.,University
College Cork, Ireland.

Research Techniques and Skills acquired:

DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, Spectrophotometry, TLC,
measurement of photosynthetic rate of heterotrophic and photoautotrophic
cultures using Combined InfraRed gas Analysis System (CIRAS), meristem
culture, shoot apex maceration, anther culture, callus culture, somatic
embryogenesis, histology of adventitious regenerants, culture indexing, in
vitro mutagenesis, in vitro selection, glass house and field trial,
disease assessment and selection, measuring variation using Delta-T-Image
analysis and cytological methods, isolation and identification of fungal
pathogens, determination of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of
antibiotics against endophytic bacterial pathogens, data analysis using
Statistical packages, preparation of manuscripts for scientific
journals/conferences.
