The Department of Forest Resource Management and Geomatics at the
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå Sweden is currently
inviting applications for a postdoctoral research scientist. The
successful applicant will join 10 other persons in the remote sensing
section working with the development of methods for remote sensing of
forest resources. This two-year position (with a possible extension for
an additional two years) is funded through a newly-initiated Swedish
national remote sensing program called RESE (Remote Sensing for the
Environment). The primary research task will be within the RESE project
"Monitoring of Forest Ecosystems" focusing on the assessment of
ecologically relevant landscape patterns using satellite data, and on
the development of methods for making patterns assessed from different
images comparable. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field
specializing in Remote Sensing and must have a good knowledge of digital
image analysis and computer programming experience.
