Research Specialist Agroforestry/Urban Forestry
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) seeks applicants for a
research appointment at the Agricultural Experiment Station in St. Croix,
U.S. Virgin Islands. Under general supervision of the program leader,
the individual will develop an active research program focusing on native
tree species and their application in agroforestry/urban forestry. The
successful candidate must seek extramural funding to support the research
program, develop close working relations with personnel in related
disciplines within UVI and disseminate research findings to appropriate
audiences using various media. The individual must be highly
self-motivated to serve a cross-cultural public constituency. The
position requires a Master's degree in Agroforestry, Urban Forestry,
Forestry or Horticulture and experience in plant physiology or plant
propagation. Applicant must be computer literate and have good writing
ability and knowledge of statistical procedures and field experimental
techniques. The salary of this professional staff position is from
$26,978 to $37,904, depending on qualifications and experience. The
position includes a benefits package of life and health insurance,
retirement, and annual and sick leave. Screening of applicants
