The reason for the acceleration of harvesting on private land in the Pacific Northwest is simple.......$$$$$.......Due to the shutdown of federal lands, private stumpage prices have skyrocketed. In other words, get what you can now.......before Uncle Al Gore tries to turn you into a National Park also.
