There is a company in Wetumpka, Alabama (near Montgomery) that dives for logs
in the Alabama River. Old Longleaf Pine Logs were floated (and lost) from
north and central Alabama to sawmills down to Mobile Bay. They are now being
rescued.
Logs sink at times and the value of these logs have appreciated astronomically.
They are now worth a scuba diver finding them and transporting them to a mill.
There are several recovery companies that take advantage of a wooden treasure
at the bottom of many water ways and impoundments.
