the chinese do this with bamboo - they dry the product afterwards, and
it sells by the bundle. however, i believe they take the boo out,
leaving sort of a socket, with the protein in it, that was dissolved out
of the boo-wood - but maybe the culms rott inside. any
bamboo-enthusiasts on the list? do you know how this is done?
