Blue Sap?

Blue kinda sounds fungal.  To some of our resident mycologists - can fungi
thrive in pine sap?

I know that "blue stain" is a fungi that enters southern yellow pine logs when
conditions are right.  It is not a problem structurally but does decrease
lumber grade.
