52nd Annual Conference, CPPA Midwest Branch
Theme: Maximizing Performance - Our Challenge for the Next Millennium
The Midwest Branch of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association is pleased to
issue this call for papers for its annual conference to be held on September
23 to 25, 1998 at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Building
on last years highly successful formula, the conference will focus on
technology and team building for tomorrow in order to be world class.
Session topics will include technological innovation, value added produce
development, implementation of product quality, safety and environmental
programs including ISO certification as they relate to the conference theme.
Specific innovative papers dealing with topics such as pulping, bleaching,
papermaking, deinking, sustainable forestry, effluent reduction, system
closure, steam and power, process cost reductions and related topics are
The 1997 Annual Conference and trade show was enjoyed by more than 300 mill
participants and 45 exhibitors. This years conference will include two and a
half days of sessions, a Mill Manager's Forum, and a session on general
business management. The conference will wind-up with the annual golf
tournament with lots of prizes for all.
Authors interested in presenting a paper on these or related topics should

copied and distributed to conference attendees. For this reason, all
abstracts should be written on a single letter sheet in Arial (or Helv) font
using a size 12 font (Use size 14 font for titles; leave 1 inch margins.).
Authors are requested to include their name and names of any co-authors,
addresses and affiliations, as well as their telephone & fax numbers and
E-mail address if available.
Deadline for receipt of abstracts: May 15, 1998.
