This pest has been found in NY and IL, and few are paying attention to the
possibilities that come with it. The Washington Post carried an article on it
recently, at

In U.S., an Asian Beetle Instills Full-Bore Economic Fear
By Joby Warrick

....... "(the Asian Longhorn Beetle) hitched a ride to New York in 1996 on a
shipment of Chinese sewer pipes and quickly spread to the suburbs. Two years
later, the bug is still largely unknown outside of a few infested areas in New
York and Illinois. But unless something stops it, scientists fear, the whole
country could soon know its name."

Washington Post articles are available for 2 weeks after publication.
