Headwaters conclusion

For those who are interested in how the whole headwaters controversy came
out, there was an article in today's paper about it.

California is buying the 7500 acre Headwaters tract for $130 million.
The feds are also paying Maxxam $250 million as part of the deal. Maxxam
also will get up to $100 million for another 2,000 acres of other
timberland.

California is also paying $15 million to Humboldt County for loss of
economic activity.

There is also something about expanding protected riparian zones from 30
feet to 100 feet, but I can't tell if this is statewide, or just on
Pacific Lumber's land.
