Ironwood and Bitterwood

You have ever explained the generic naming ironwood and have given its 
scientific name. Further source information would be most welcome. many other 
biological names such as Xylia dolabriformis, Androstachys johnsonii have 
emerged from africa and ? respectively.
What is Bitterwood? could you give some details about it also. Thanks
