[Agroforestry] Protecting chanterelles

I've a question about Chanterelles and that is if we should not leave 
some in a patch, say a third, for the health of the entire plant?

I an imagine this would be hard to impossible where many people know 
of the existence of a patch, but what is the truth, what do we know 
about these and other mushrooms, as to the wisdom of leaving some?
