Question about MENOPAUSE?

Hi;
I have a question about the mechanism that 'body' uses to find out when is the
time for Menopause. What is this mechanisem?

        - Is there some kind of egg-counting system that declares Menopause
            to the whole body whenever only one egg is left.

        - Is there a biological clock that works with absolute time.

        - Is there an ageing process involved which reduces the body's
           ability to be frtilized.
