CURATORIAL ASSISTANTS IN INVERTEBRATE ZOOLOGY

Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Openings exist for two full time, permanent positions as Curatorial 
Assistants in the Invertebrate Zoology section of the Natural History 
Museum of Los Angeles County.  The successful candidates will divide 
their time among four major world-class collections (polychaete worms, 
echinoderms, mollusks, and crustaceans).  Duties include sorting and 
identifying incoming and existing collections of marine invertebrates, 
assisting with the organization and computer cataloging of the collections, 
and assisting the curators and collection managers with other collection-
related activities.  Qualifications include training or experience in 
Invertebrate Zoology, plus a strong interest in natural history, marine 
invertebrates, and museum collections.  Preference will be given to 
applicants with strengths or experience in working with marine annelids, 
echinoderms, mollusks, or crustaceans; graduate training / experience is 
preferred but not mandatory.  Starting salary commensurate with 
experience; excellent benefit packages (dental, health, life, retirement) are
