Polychaete key for Virginia

Greetings annelidans,

I have compiled / written a key for the polychaetes of coastal Virginia and
Chesapeake Bay for my lab that may prove to be useful for others that
need to identify polychaetes in this area. The web address is:
www.vims.edu/~bart/ I originally intended to make this key for my lab
only, to update an out-of-date key by Dr. Marvin Wass that we were using.
A couple of people suggested that others outside of the lab might find it
useful too, so I decided to post the address here. A couple of disclaimers: I
am by no means a polychaete expert (just an enthusiast!) and as a result
there are probably some mistakes in this key. I apologize in advance for
my errors, and if any of you spot any mistakes (or just have any other
helpful suggestions) please e-mail me and I can make corrections. The
target audience for this key was students that need to I.D. polychaetes as
part of their projects (like I did), I realize that most of you that receive this
posting are probably beyond this point in your careers. I graduated before
I got a chance to complete all the illustrations I wanted to do, and hopefully
some day I can finish them. Also the quality of some of the illustrations is
admittedly poor.

I hope this key is useful for some of you out there, and I welcome any
(kind) criticisms: bart at vims.edu
