Fishing _for_ worms

Comments on worms captured by fishing hooks..

Dr. Pettibone reports in her 1989 monograph on acoetids, that large 
specimens of Polyodontes macillosus have been captured on fishing lines 
in the Mediterranean.  The worms were attached to the bait (hermit crabs, 
worms, and small fish) by the everted proboscis. I don't have the original 
reference in front of me, but my impression is that this is not an isolated 
occurrence.
