This reminded me of the case of Pectinaria belgica (Pallas, 1766) (etc.) in
the seventies, in which the ICZN was somewhat less critical. This species
was also "deliberately misidentified" and a neotype was chosen from
Swedish material. The type locality had to be removed from the Netherlands
(Belgia in Latin off those days) because the species in the new sense does
not occur here.
