Dear colleagues,
I have found an interesting example of simultaneous hermaphroditism in a new
species of Boccardia (Spionidae). Both female and male gametes develop in the
same segments, on different sites of the same genital blood vessel, close to
one another. Most of oogenesis and spermatogenesis occur in the coelomic
cavity, thus both kinds of gametes occur together (see foto at the link
below). I could not find other examples of such a kind of hermaphroditism
among polychaetes and wonder whether someone has this information.
