Hello,
I'm working with the giant axon of Myxicola from the Bay of Fundy, and I'm
finding that my dissections are seriously compromised by the large amount of
sperm that oozes out of my specimens. The chambers that hold the sperm
invariably get punctured during the dissection, and I spend valuable time
washing away the sperm while the tissue degrades. My question to all of you is
this: Is there an easy way to induce Myxicola to release the sperm before I
start my dissection? I've noticed that some of them do this in the tank, but
it's not obvious what induces it. Any insights would be appreciated.
thanks,
