Depending on your needs, another possibly useful resource is the Southern 
California Association of Marine Invertebrate Taxonomists (SCAMIT) taxonomic 
checklist available for download at:  

http://www.scamit.org/edition_four_information.htm There is some overlap with
the northeast Pacific fauna.

The best thing to start with would be a copy of the Taxonomic Atlas of the
benthic fauna of the Santa Maria Basin and the western Santa Barbara Channel.
Volumes 4-7 treat the polychaetes ...
