Dear Annelidians,
I am searching for the type material of Polydora giardi described in Franc=
e by
Mesnil in his 1896 monograph. No types are designated in the original
description, and no depository/-ies are indicated. The material does not
appear to have been in the collection of the Mus=E9um national d=92Histoir=
e
naturelle, Paris, France. Requests to the Natural History Museum, London a=
nd
the Zoological Museum, Hamburg both gave negative replies, indicating that=
Mesnil=92s specimens were not deposited there. There is still a little cha=
nce
some specimens to be in Banyuls or another European collection. Any
information on the matter will be greatly acknowledged.
