PhD STUDENTSHIP in Systematics of Clitellata (Annelida)
Applications are invited for a 4-year PhD studentship starting in January 2005
or sooner if possible. The studentship will be at the subdivision of
Zoomorphology and Systematics, in the research group of Professor Christer
Erséus. The successful candidate will work with taxonomy and phylogeny of
enchytraeid clitellates (a species-rich group of segmented worms) with
emphasis on marine species. Methods will include microscopy as well as those
of molecular systematics.
A background in zoomorphology or zoosystematics, preferably with experience of
work with invertebrates and/or methods of molecular systematics, would be
appropriate. We are looking for a student full of initiative, good analytical
ability, and a talent for scientific writing in English.
The position is for four years of full time for the PhD work, two years
supported by a fellowship followed by two years of employment. A 20% teaching
assistantship may be added, so that the period of appointment is prolonged to
span a total of about five years.
